It was never a penalty and I said it to my misses straight away. I think 99% of the time a handball in the box is unintentional. Half the time you hear commentators make a comment "well his arm was raised" its just a natural reaction.

I don't think it's necessarily the players under performing but AVB's tactics. We are very good at keeping the ball and he's quite happy for us to camp in their half. Most games 70%-30% possession in favour, yet we're slow and predictable and teams set up perfectly to stop us. Soldado has barely anything to work with.

If we are so good at the back yet lack that bit extra I think it's time to do what Rodgers tried in a 3-5-2 type and bring adebayor in as he brings midfielders into play and would create more for Soldado too. Hull tried to do a west ham and may well have done if it wasn't for the penalty

Strange thing with spurs and liverpool is both are doing very well this season in the league . But both have stengths and weakenss

spurs : going forward you look good in midfield but weak up front. defence has been solid
liverpool : fantastic going forward with two world class strikers , decent midfield but awful defence.
Can't complain about our points total that's for sure. In someways I try to look at it in a positive way, we're 3 off you guys who are playing wonderful, and above city who are not playing badly at all IMO.

If we can play shite and win, maybe we can win more when we start to play to full potential.

You make a good point. Your not going to win the title this year but you given yourselves a good shot at the top four . Your winning without playing well which is good sign. You got tough bunch of fixtures though with two away games at everton and city to come and united at home. you should beat newcastle at home

I I think your bar the west ham game have looked better at the back this year. You have fantastic midfield but i still can,t get my head why you spent 25 million on soldado. Not worth it if you ask me.

You need to improve going forward though if your going to get into the top four this year. Your were better to watch in 2011 and 2012 season going forward

Capoue coming back will be a huge positive, He's the best defensive midfielder in the league and he will help against the tough sides like Everton, City and United.

based on what is he the best defensive midfielder in the league?

based on the fact that he hasnt played the last few games. Remember few weeks back Sandro was the best DM in the league when he was out injured.

@castiel: actually this is the exact problem most saw coming. Last season they had no creativity except bale and the problems have persisted.

Shows what I know then! I thought with all the offensive players they've bought they'd be scoring enough. The difference between Soldado and Negredo's impact has been striking.

I think negredo a better striker then soldado as he does better off the ball in open play and is sharper in front of goal

Sometimes they're given.

Sometimes they're not.

This one was.

End of story.
Very true; now answer the questions I asked you.

1. Was the handball (in your opinion) intentional?
2. Would you have been happy to see an identical penalty awarded against Spurs?

I'll answer for him.

1. Not intentional.
2. I wouldn't be happy with it.

At least you had the good grace to answer. Cheers for that.

I did chuckle at bruce though with this quote The players are desperate to play in the Premier League but they are questioning it because of a joke decision. [The referee] couldn't wait to give it."
Now he knows whats it like to be on the other end of a "referee couldn't wait to give it" decision

I did find that ironic when he played for man united team that got 8 mintues of injury time to score two goals to basically win them the league in 1993 vs Sheffield Wednesday.

Not unlike the time added on for City v QPR then? It was 20 years ago ,get over it for goodness sake.

That was ridiculous and corrupt. Back then you'd be happy with two minutes extra

Actually very much UNLIKE the City v QPR game. With the Barton debacle there was quite obviously several minutes to be added on. In a normal game 3 minutes isn't unexpected, there were 5 minutes in the City v QPR game which, given Barton's antics and the time taken to sort that out, is understandable.

The 8 minutes United got agaisnt Sheffield Weds, and the 8 minutes they got against us at Old Trafford a few years ago (when 5 minutes was displayed on the board) are both ludicrous examples of United beign given an unfair amount of time to claw their way to victory.
