A shame that didn't come off.

AVB is apparently being given a £40 million investment in January from the board to improve the squad and try and make the CL, AVB hasn't spent much so It would be nice if he got some backing off the board rather than be forced to sell our best players.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2013/10/28/4365620/villas-boas-to-resist-january-purchases-despite-40m?ICID=CP_105" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/pre ... CID=CP_105</a>

For £40 million, I would spend £25 million on Benteke and Defoe on loan for the season so Villa can stay up with a PL proven goal scorer.
Also £5 million for Javi Garcia who I like and AVB is friends with him.

I hope a pigeon shits on you at some point today.

Let's see where we are in a couple of month's time before splashing out tens of millions of quid on strikers.

Both Adebayor and Defoe could both come good by then.

Yeah, and Tony Pullis could take over at Palace and lead them on a 20 game winning run. Anything is possible, but you need to consider the chances of that happening. Adebayor has done what he did at Arsenal and City before him, got his lucrative contract by playing pretty well, then stagnated and, ultimately, completely turned to shite. Defoe is in one of his runs of poor form. At some stage he'll go on a scoring run for a few games, as he always does, then he'll hit another patch of poor form. He'll get you in the region of 10 league goals this season, which is par for the course for him, he's 31 now, he's not likely to change the pattern of a career at this stage.

Some comedy gold from glory-glory

We are dominating possession and territory in every game. We complained for years about not having a proper striker with good movement and good technique, now we have spent £26m on getting one of the most prolific ones in La Liga to lead our line. We have the creative talents of Christian Eriksen, one of the best young playmakers in the world, Lewis Holtby, a former Germany U21 captain, and Paulinho, a £17m Brazilian international. On the wings, we have arguably the biggest breakthrough player in the league in Townsend, with Lennon always a threat and Sigurdsson chipping in with a few goals and assists.

And yet - we have only scored 9 goals from our 9 Premier League games this season. Less than Swansea, Southampton and Newcastle. The same as Fulham and Villa. We have scored less than half of what Arsenal and City have managed. It is a real worry. Where do you think it's going wrong?

Danger with wasting cash in jan is you get less speical striker and still might not get into top four anywa. Better of save the money for the summer anyway if you are in the champions league.

Walker must think all his Christmases and birthdays have come at once;

Staggering. Alongside Trafford's finest, he must surely rank as one of the most over-rated players in the PL. An average defender with iffy positional sense, who relies on his pace to get him out of trouble. How he got the young player of the season award last year beggars belief. Plus, he's a mouthy fucker (remember his dig at us from a year or so back?).

Did you buy United's penalty luck in the summer?

After going the last two seasons without being awarded a home penalty, I'll gladly take what we were rightly given yesterday.

Did the ball hit the defender's raised hand?

Yes.

Did it happen in the penalty area?

Yes....

Does that make it a penalty? No. You failed to miss "intentional" but then again it is you so I expect nothing else

Walker apologised for his outburst and was said in the heat of the moment. He's still young and will improve, English players seem to have double the price so it's good move by levy

Kyle Walker is an integral member of a Spurs defence which has kept 12 clean sheets from their 15 matches played this season.

He will be Tottenham & England's first choice right back for the foreseeable future.

Tying him down to a contract until the Summer of 2019 makes great business sense for Spurs.
