AVB is apparently being given a £40 million investment in January from the board to improve the squad and try and make the CL, AVB hasn't spent much so It would be nice if he got some backing off the board rather than be forced to sell our best players.

For £40 million, I would spend £25 million on Benteke and Defoe on loan for the season so Villa can stay up with a PL proven goal scorer.

You can shout "trolling" until you're blue in the face, but it doesn't change the fact that Spurs made a profit of over £6m this summer from player trading.
The upshot being that there is plenty of cash available for new players, if required, in the January 2014 transfer window.
