The Tottenham Thread (Merged)

I've said all along Spurs were never in the title race (though got pilloried for it). They had a run of easy fixtures from Oct-Jan and did OK in them. Spurs never had the metality for a title challenge. They flattered to deceive, that is all. They have been found wanting yet again when it mattered.

-- Mon Feb 27, 2012 1:33 pm --

Why is it unrealistic expectations? We are a country with a 60m+ population. Football is our national sport. We have the richest league (and therefore academies) in the world.

You'd think at some point in the last 20 years, we may have made a go of it.
This might be an unpopular statement but from outside appearances, your organizational structure and youth development appear fatally flawed in regards to international success.

Ah ha! You may well be right. But we have the population and money to do it. Surely the FA should be capable of funnelling some of the Billions of pounds into our game in the right way.

I'm not arsed about England though, I'll be pleased if we do well but won't be upset when we go out. I have nothing like the emotional attachment to England that I do with City.

We all know this my friend but guess which governing body seems incapable of waking up and smelling the fookin coffee?!
Until they do I will treat England with total indifference - and yes it´s a fookin national disgrace but they don´t give a toss. The FA is more interested in the money from the PL. Fook them all. Club before country now and always

From a post on football 365:

You have to admire Redknapp's ability to get the best out of players...he's the only manager that's ever made theo walcott look world class!

We have a population of 50m but this is besides the point.

I'm actually doing a thing about international football at the moment so don't want to shoot my load early so to speak, but I'll link you over to it once it's done :)

The UK population increased more last year than at any time in almost half a century, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics.

By mid-2010 the estimated resident population was 62,262,000, an increase of 470,000 (0.8%) on the previous year.

I'll await your bit on the national side though.

Yeah it would mate.

I'm obviously only caring about the GB Olympic team.

With hindsight the interview Twitcher did with Sky before the game should have set the alarm bells ringing, far too cocky and arrogant, that result has brought them down to earth with an almighty crash, his face was a picture yesterday, that will teach him

Seen it all before, media hypes a club, said club disappoints, its better being City we never get hyped we just keep on winning, Spuds do not deserve the hype, not a bad team but not nearly as good as the media and their fans think.

Lets hope they are out for revenge next week
