Not only that, but a doping conspiracy at a football club would require a lot more people to be complicit than say, one cyclist and his inner circle. It's hard to believe that they would all be in on it, especially any players with ambitions to move onto bigger and better clubs.

In other sports like Tennis, Cycling etc if someone was crap throughout their career and then suddenly one year they're faster, stronger and fitter than everyone else, questions and suspicions would arise.

Cycling still has a reputation as being tarnished, due to the long term, fairly open doping that went on throughout the peloton and of course the Lance Armstrong affair. However, it has done more than any other sport to clean up its act and is probably one of the cleanest and most genuine sports around now, with the introduction of the biological passport and even more stringent testing. Other sports should follow suit.
