The true secret of Leicester City's success / doping thread merged

Just curious but what kinds of PEDS would football players use to increase performance. I mean what kind of edge would it give them. Cyclists used drugs that gave them higher blood circulation. Baseball players used drugs to build muscle mass that increased their power production. American football players used drugs that improved their recovery time and muscle mass. What drugs would help footballers?

Not only that, but a doping conspiracy at a football club would require a lot more people to be complicit than say, one cyclist and his inner circle. It's hard to believe that they would all be in on it, especially any players with ambitions to move onto bigger and better clubs.
There is an AFL club (in Melbourne) that has had virtually EVERY player stood down because the club were using illegal substances to boost performances - and those players that have left and joined other clubs have also been stood down.

Any/all of the above

The funny thing about that (well there were a lot of funny things in the end) was that Essendon, the club in question had an amazing start to the season but then collapsed under the weight of a ridiculous run of injuries. Many said to be a consequence of the drugs they were taking.

FWIW that club is still unable or unwilling to tell the players exactly what they were injected with.

Yeah. Like I was just saying, if they were using... well find out soon enough. You can always tell when an athlete was using PEDs because their career just nosedives afterwards. Almost all the baseball players who juiced in the 90's lost their careers after they quit. Their bodies broke down and they couldn't produce at their former rate.

Well you are looking at a speed and strength cycle so something along the lines of winstrol, equipose and hcg. Also something to aid concentration so add in one of the neuroenhancement drugs.

Blood doping leads to an increase in the oxygen-carrying capacity of blood beyond ones natural capability. They are often used in endurance sports with cycling being the stand out example of recent years. EPO is the most commonly known of this class of drug. They can also use blood transfusions (from themselves or other people). Having an autologous transfusion (taking blood out, doing stuff to it to keep just the red blood cells, freezing it and putting it back in later) is another favourite. Allows much improved endurance which gives obvious advantages.
EPO is not without significant risk and is probably best avoided if not for medical use.
