This transfer window/Marwood

Marwood simply carries no clout with the agents or representatives of top players. He has no influence or leverage with other teams to get his foot in the door and I honestly believe he is a serious handicap to our progress. With the new CEO due on 1 September, I hope Marwood is gone by the next window. Our three priorities for a top CB, central midfielder and wide man should have been identified and in place for the start of the season. I'd start setting your alarm a little earlier each day Mr Marwood as the clock is ticking down.

So who bought Aguero, Slva, Yaya et al

I am not a City fan, in fact I am a Palace fan, who regularly goes to matches. That being said I love watching and talking about quality football. I really enjoyed City winning the league since I am not to fond of United, Arsnal or Tottenham.

Being a Palace fan I know not how it it like to follow a team through tough times you do. However, I agree completely with the thread starter and don't think a lot of City fans realise how bad things are.

Lastly year for me you had by far the best first 11 in the Premiership. Hence, why you could thrash everyone at the start when your team was fresh. However, United had the best squad. You were naive in Europe, but in truth you had a very, very hard group. Made harder that Napoli and Bayern were on unbelievable form at the start of the season. However, as the season went on your lack of depth told and in the end you won the with 30 seconds to spare.

United have just gone and spent near 50 million improving their first team. They have just bought RVP the best player in the league last year and Kagawa one of the best midfielders in the German league. Chelsea won't have enough to challenge this year, but have just put together a new incredibly talented young team with no weaknesses except Cahil.

As league champions you need to strike whilst you are on top. To have a perfect team you need to buy a world class centre back, central midfielder and winger. As has been mentioned by lots of people here already you are one long term injury to Toure or Kompany from disaster. The board don't seem to understand that spending 40 million this year will save you millions in the future. Chelsea made the same extent in Mourinho's 3rd season. Mourinho saw they were light at the back. He saw the strength in United's young team and new buying Pepe would see of the United threat. Roman thought he had spent enough and the squad was good enough. So he did not sanction the signing. 12 months later, Chelsea's lack of squad depth cost them and United win the league. United then win 2 more titles on the back of that. As the season stands at the moment the same could happen to City if they are not careful.

I agree with Mancini, though you have a better first team than United unless you bring someone in they are rightfully favourites for the league.

I sort of stand in the middle on this 1 because on one side we won the title last season but i dont think its any secret that the other side of manchester needed more players. The point i make is that they have gone out and bought players that can come in and add real bite if all goes well

Chelsea last season were hoping to rely on a misfiring torres manager changes uncertainty and also needing players. The problem i see is that they have added to there squad with great qaulity and in masses

Arsenal didnt have the squad last season but although rvp gone they in my opinion in podolski and corzola without the others have more strengh than last year so winning the title this year is going to be twice as hard as last.

There are many reasons why we could have lost our targets not just marwood
but the 1 thing if only 1 i would only like to see is please add cb cover

It is unbelievable the amount people on here panic and complain, and usually about something on which they know nothing.

Without Brian Marwood, we would flat out not have Silva, Aguero, or Yaya. It was him that sold our club to those players and their agents, it was him that negotiated the deals from their former clubs.

Our current transfer strategy is a revolving door, surely its not that difficult to work out, and at current thats more difficult because of the players we are selling.

Re: RVP - We enquired, we didnt want to pay Arsenal £20+m for a player in the last year of his contract, and we definatly dont want to be giving a 29 year old player £230K on 4 year. Meaning in 2014/2015 United will be paying a 32/33 year old RVP £230K a week. And that will fuck them over.

re: De Rossi - didnt come due to family reasons. End of story.

We have other targets but its not a case of just strolling into somewhere, shaking hands, maybe offering them a fruit basket and politly asking for the best player. Clubs dont want to sell, and clubs definatly dont want to sell to rival clubs, and for us, the kind of players we want to sign are at champions league clubs who view us as rivals. So prices go up and negotiations take longer and longer.

There seems to be a contradiction in what you say about DDR and RVP.

DDR is also 29 and is reportedly on £200k a week at Roma.

The club have got it spot on, everytime we come knocking on the door for a player the price goes up 10-15 million and the wages break 200k.

In these instances they should be told under no uncertain terms to FOOK RIGHT OFF.

If the player wants to come to City, then the deal will happen. If they only want to come here to make some money (ala Adebayor) then those days are long gone. Fingers burned, got the t-shirt...never again.

What you are basically moaning about is the strength of the subs bench (which includes nothing but internationals), which is like taking your ferrari to the garage for a service and flipping out coz the courtesy car they've offered is only a BMW.

Its a fair point however we never negotiated with him and i doubt the offer would of been a 4 year deal. Just illustrating the point that, contrary to popular opinion, we didnt sign him because of Marwood.

Does anybody really think that if Khaldoon Al Mubarak and the owners weren't happy about the performance of Brian Marwood they would just sit back, not get involved until after the window closes. If there was a problem they would soon move Marwood aside. Look were we are they Know what theyre doing
