Ticket prices for 2nd leg v PSG.

Thanks @bobmcfc @SWP's back @alib

Whichever figures are accurate, it's very clear that we won't get close to selling this game out. Based on the competition, the opposition and the price, I think we're in broad agreement that the club have essentially made the decision to increase revenue by around £250k, at the expense of pricing out 10,000 fans who would have attended if the prices were lower. That to me is absolutely startling in its short-sightedness.

The people making these decisions are not stupid. They know it won't get close to selling out at that price. They know full well that they are pricing out tens of thousands of fans. They also know that as a one off game they are likely to get a higher revenue by charging the higher price, even if 10,000 less people turn up. It's as if it's a computer generated decision, based on an algorithm to maximise revenue irrespective of the knock on effects to fans. It's the kind of decision Mike Ashley would make.

What price can you put on alienating tens of thousands of fans? Fans who are already disillusioned with the Champions League, and many who are disillusioned with the way the team is playing this season. This was an opportunity for the club to re-engage with these fans, get them excited for the season, and the Champions League. Instead they've chosen the ruthless profiteering approach.

Maybe it's naive to think football is any different from any other commercial enterprise, but I certainly feel about City differently to how I feel about Apple, or EDF Energy, or PG Tips, or whatever. I was brought up with no choice but to support City. I went for 20 odd years out of blind loyalty when we were absolute shite, we now have a great team who I love but I feel some of the executives at the club don't give a flying fuck about our history and the sense of loyalty our fans have. We may not have a history littered with trophies like Barcelona or The Evil Empire, but I'm a 4th generation City fan, I had no choice, it's in my blood. I'm not a customer, I'm a supporter, I'm loyal to a fault, but it seems the club are using that loyalty that I and tens of thousands of others have and are exploiting it to the maximum degree so they can feel proud of themselves when they file the annual accounts.

It's absolutely sickening to think they could have negotiated a 0.5% reduction in Raheem Sterlings transfer fee and charged £35 a ticket for this match instead of £55 and 10,000 extra fans could have enjoyed the occasion and the club would be no worse off financially.
Doff your cap, as that is quite an amazing post. Me and my mate have decided not to pay the prices on offer, and we are both gutted.
Not one to care about the empty seats shit, but the empty seats in a quarter final prestige game v PSG are rightfully going to be slated by all and sundry, and it's nobodies fault but the clubs.

I remember last year a job advert being posted on here for a position at City that very clearly listed one of the main priorities was to implement and think up new ways to monetize the fan base.

We all knew it was coming but its still a bitter pill to swallow.

@Shaelumstash We have not agreed much over the last few years on here but that is an excellent post.

Where can I find a complete list of all prices in all parts of the ground including concessions? I can't get into the club website as they do now allow disabled people to log in themselves.

All I have seen is that second level prices are £60 with pensioners at £50 which seems to show that pensioners are taking a huge hit compared with others.

£60 pound is ridiculous for what could be a dead rubber.
Over the last 3 seasons we've had some ridiculously cheap priced cup matches which makes no difference to how empty the place.
So it's a bit of swings & roundabouts for me, have had cheap tickets in the past and stung for this one.
It's sad but I think like for most the wallet will eventually overrule the heart.

Not quite sure what you mean by the bolded part (I'm presuming you mean don't allow BTW) but the prices are here https://www.mcfc.com/News/Tickets-and-Travel/2016/March/PSG-ticket-information/1458321292

We are in a battle now to get in the top 3 but the rest of the season seem like it's going to be a real chore, in the run up to a huge game for us the club do this. It's knocked the stuffing out of a few people hasn't it. They had the chance to reignite our season & try to get the place sold out v PSG & drive further on in the competition & they chose the accountants route instead. I was even contemplating going myself & I withdrew from the Champions league games last year after being surrounded by tourists & people who had zero interest in the game, more akin to a crowd at Utd.
Wth the arrival of Pep I wonder if the club will be after the same people to come to the league games, if so City are finished as a club for me.

Thanks for that. I means that I will pay more to get into City that night than I have paid all season, home or away. Even the Wembley concession was only £36 (I think).

I suppose I can add it to my list of the record lowest City crowds I have been in.

For some reason best known to City those listed as disabled cannot log in to the website to buy tickets etc and this has been the case for a few years. So it is always a case of joining the queue and there will be a big one on Monday.

Sorry a simple typo noW and noT make a tremendous difference.
