ticket prices for semi- final

I was thinking along similar lines after watching some of the video clips, recently posted on Bluemoon.

The traditional hardcore City fanbase has definitely aged, from the mass teenage invasion of Elland Road in 77, to the Morrissey wannabes at the 5-1 in 89 and the late thirty somethings on the pitch at Ewood Park in 2000.

That demographic has now reached its early 50s, and priorities have changed. “Other lads will come to take our place”, but it’s a different world, and they’ll struggle for tickets when loyalty is judged by a self perpetuating points scheme.

Nowadays, it’s virtually impossible for a gang of 15 year old to suddenly decide on a Friday night that they’re going to catch an early morning train to watch City at Tottenham. (which my gang did in the late 70s)

A hobby is supposed to be healthier than an obsession, but football is the exception that proves the rule. Watching City has now become an expensive hobby, and I suspect that many of us preferred the days when our numbers were restricted to obsessives.

However, I’m not quite ready for the knackers yard, and I’ll be there next Sunday.
That was exactly how it was for me. All my mates back in the 70's were United fans and they took me to my first City match in the early 70's against Sheffield United. We used to decide on the Saturday morning what we were doing and if United were at home I used to go along with them to cheer on the opposition. No tickets just turn up. And you always had change from a quid and that included getting there and getting in.Its all the messing about now with the likes of Showsec, and the way they march up and down the aisles looking for someone to give a bollocking too. In the good old days you could stand wherever you wanted on the Kippax and move from one side to the other depending on which way City were attacking.

Just put in 6 tickets required, all sat together and this was available in all 15 blocks/categories that were up.

Bored.
So the 20k that's people are saying is true.. always wondered how people know .. Tommy a the steward on East stand level 1 knows exactly 2 days before any home game bar the odd 100 or so late sales returns but he's obviously told by city

I'd be astonished if we've only sold 20,000. Not a chance that 12,000 of the original allocation remains unsold.

I'm away at the moment and can't check on my phone but how many blocks in Level 1 have appeared on the planner? Purely a guess this but I'd say this is the extra 1000 tickets the FA gave us rather than part of the original allocation save for the odd return.

Just singles in Level 1. Probably a few returns.

One block and only odd seats although you can get 2 together on row 1!

There is no way we haven't sold more than 20,000. 15 blocks available in upper tier so could be 4-5000 left as you can still get 6 seats on row 13 fairly easily. There will be plenty of pens out ready.......

Non taken .So your one of those die hard blues that if some one doesn't love the team in the same way as you do should loose the right to have an opinion

No I don't think there is a league table of fans but some of your posts were negative.

20k my arse.

30k plus on Sunday.

Even so, you have to wonder where the other 20,000 matchday going City fans are?

Not to mention those City fans who can't get a season ticket or a derby ticket, but could get a FA Cup semi final ticket against Arsenal.

Don't worry they'll be there for the final

Does seem rather too easy to get 6 seats together in most blocks. Did a random sample and got 6 together on every occasion. This is piss poor blues it's a semi final, and a trophy for the season ffs! Still think we will have sold well more than 20,000 but nevertheless...

There is a big hole in our support, 20 years of united success, and city struggling has seen city miss out on a large chunk of the young support in the 90s up to 2010, the loyal support stayed steadfast in the dark days, but we're we attracting many new fans, very unlikely, city's fan base will grow, but it may take a few years for the benefit to be truly seen, having said that selling out a semi final should be a doddle.

I can't understand why it's such a big deal, some people really worried by what the Raggies might say at work ?
Ask em how many attended the F.A CUP FINAL replay v C. palace when they truly were the biggest club (TM) in the world.

Remember the Ipswich semi final in 81 , tickets were like gold dust, such a huge game and day . The disappointment of defeat against Spurs in the quarter final at Maine Road and subsequent riot . Sadly now it seems like some take a Wembley trip and FA Cup semi final as run of the mill. Times really have changed .

Whatever the number of blues there it will be the ones who want to be there and there to support the team.

Personally I can't wait for a day on the beers at Wembley

due to boredom waiting for this game to start i just tried 3 random blocks and could get 20 in a row in all 3 blocks!!!!

there's plenty of us, just the way ticketing is set up has driven people out. City cater up to 16 brilliantly and then it really starts to fall apart, especially if you're at uni.

Thinks some people need to stop beating themselves up with the number of tickets sold. Let it go guys.
