Ticket Prices

Every CL game as I walk back down Joe Mercer Way to the coach park I hear very few English people and I see loads of half & half scarves. Its been like that for quite a while.
CL games are chronic. It is tourist central. However, I guess that would be the same with all English clubs. People just want to watch (via an iPad or camera) a 'Champions League' game.

Fuck me.

With the cost of gas and electricity, if my second largest DD after the mortgage was a season ticket, I'd be in the tunnel club every match!
I’ve only been paying £16.80 a month for my gas and electric over this Winter. I’ve got eight more expensive DDs than that.

It's going to have to stop because the last few months should be a wake up call that nothing lasts forever. A Rag resurgence and a City slump could be a real knock to any tourist appeal the club are staking the future on. I'm not someone who panics every time we lose a game, there is loads for us to be optimistic about, I just think it's complacent to think we will be at the top forever. We are showing vulnerabilities as a side, other teams are catching up and we should prepare ourselves for smaller prizes when Pep leaves. The world does not love City like we do, they love to support a team that wins a lot and does it in style. If that slides then the club will need to work harder to keep and grow the legacy fanbase and £70 ticket prices will not do that.
superb post. Dynasties like we've had for the last 10 years do not last forever, pep will not be here forever and there will be times when we slump/don't win trophies. Also, we need to ensure the younger fans can get in and become hardened City fans.
I know we have a lot of season tickets and some are very well priced (wish there could be more well priced) but for the tickets on open sale the prices are disgraceful and I think indefensible. It's not good enough (although helpful) to tell fans to go on ticket exchange or whatever - the point is that the club, our club is taking the piss.
And guess what? We are the biggest grossing club in the world. Somebody has to take this up with the club - could we not start a petition through one of the fans groups?

"The lowest-priced standard seasoncards – of which there are 2,000 – have gone up from £299 to £310, which City claim is still cheaper than any of their 'regional competitors'."
Thank you for the figures. Much more than I imagined but not very many at all compared to Bayern.

€145 (£127) for standing season tickets at the Allianz, which has 15,794 standing spaces available and even seated ones available at €350 (£307).

Their standing ones are cheaper than City’s cheapest and there are nearly eight times more available in a stadium 139% the size of the Etihad. Not sure how many seated ones they have at €350… but the number of their cheap season tickets dwarves ours even when accounting for the different capacities of the two stadiums.

Their most expensive season ticket (€765/£670) is cheaper than mine (£855).

He might be a City-hating dodgy **** but I’ll always remember the quote from Uli Hoeneß, ‘We could charge more than £104 [the price of a cheap season ticket at Bayern at the time he said it]. Let’s say we charged £300. We’d get £2m more in income, but what’s £2m to us? In a transfer discussion, you argue about that sum for five minutes. But the difference between £104 and £300 is huge for the fan. We do not think the fans are like cows, who you milk’!
