I've got loads of mates that live in North Manchester that used to have season tickets for 15-20 years in the late 80s - early noughties and they haven't been in the ground for 10 years plus because of regular match day prices. Most of them are unskilled workers and receive minimum wage so £40-50 for a one off game is crazy (25% of their weekly wage in some cases)

Infact they think I'm very well off for having a season ticket ha)

Yeah they're both earning well without responsibilities of parenthood and mortgages yet and they've avoided the other vices of youth (i think). As my 20 year old said, £30 is 5 pints in Ancoats and they've missed live football more than anything.

But I doubt they'll be going back very often except for the cheap cup games.

Very good point, I know a few people who went regularly in the 80s/90 (mostly homes and a few away games thrown in) who don't go anymore.
My wages are probably very much in the 'average 'bracket (not great but not minimum wage) mortgage, bills, daughter at Uni means it's almost exclusively cheaper cup games for me at the moment.
Not pleading poverty or 'getting the violins out ' here by any means btw(there are far, far more important things going on in the world right now)
Yes, we have seen some real quality over the past decade and football as a whole is now a multi billion pound business. Even though I've certainly not been there for every single iconic moment I do count myself lucky to have seen some great players and great games over this 'golden period' for us blues. Ofcourse life changes (going out on the piss at the football as a single 20 year old is different to doing it as a 40/50 year old family man/woman with responsibilities).
However I can't help feeling there must be so many City fans who loyally stuck with us week in, week out through all the utter shite that was thrown at us who can't help feel a fair bit of resentment at being priced out of what is an extortionately expensive day out
for your average man/woman on the street.
Anyway, that's what I feel!
 
I consider myself lucky to have been able to watch City in the cheap era of no tickets and just turning up at the Kippax and all day piss ups or weekend away trip/ piss ups with loads of lads in transit vans, coaches, trains or cars.

Looking back it was truly a great experience. Apart from the violence of course.

I personally never had any problem at all with the violence.
Giving it out that is. I used to enjoy giving the odd rag,Scouser or Cockney the odd slap or two.
It was when they gave it back,that was when it became a bit of a problem.
Being chased by said rags,Scousers and Cockneys and then being given a fat lip or black eye was not pleasant in the slightest!!

The club seems to be detached from reality this season with the ticket pricing. Best part of £30 for a kid's ticket in the family stand v Burnley ffs. Would be over £100 for someone to take a couple of kids - if the club is worried about empty seats, they should really take a hard long look at the cost of tickets; plenty of supporters ready to fill them but can't fucking afford it.

i was going to buy 2 tickets this week for burnley,for a Filipino woman and husband i work with.
Cheapest i could find was where i sit in SS3, near to where i sit actualy,i told her it would be £40 per ticket,£80 all together,she asked "is the seat near the middle?" ,i said no,top of the 3 rd level behind the goal right at the very back,a long way from the pitch,she declined,and i dont blame her. with food and travel add another £30 to £50 minimum.
 
My lads, 20 and 22 in good jobs, skipped yesterday and spent it doing the pubs. Younger will come to Bruges when it's a bargain £15. They'll probably come to half a dozen league games with me a year.

Plenty of spare seats in CB3 next to me they could have too. Really tough once you move out of child/student prices.
 
Friend of mine wanted 2 tickets but on Friday cheapest tickets on website were £53 each she had a budget of £35 per person so didn't go.
Cue the game yesterday and loads of empty seats that could have been occupied if prices were set realistically.
£106 for 2 people to watch us v Burnley is not going to entice new support and that's before you then go through the rigmarole of how to purchase said ticket
 
We have looked at attending a few times against Burnley but have always thought the price was to high to watch Burnley. Yes the prices are to high and it's not Citys fault that Burnley are an anti footballing team so not a big draw. Perhaps City need to look at these anti football games and charge less.

I personally would never travel up, pay 60quid or more for a ticket to watch Burnley. He says after watching the Southampton game lol
I hope to see a good game of football and value for money but teams like Burnley not offer anything to football or the premier league. Now the Brentford could be good so might come to that game.

the demand is there, it’s just most people who aren’t season ticket holders can’t afford it. Seems like the club would rather have empty seats.

something needs to be done about this. Maybe the official supporters club or the 1894 group can start to push the club on it. I feel like because it doesn’t affect season ticket holders people are less bothered

another big reason is the internet too
someone skint cant afford £35 to £55 for a ticket
get a load of cheap beer in for a £10 and stream it free
 
Official attendance was 52,711 (BBC) which is tickets sold.
Capacity is about 54,500 allowing for segregation so we failed to sell fewer than 2,000 tickets even though the prices are ridiculous. If the ticket prices were more reasonable then the total revenue generated by non S/T sales would probably be less than we achieved yesterday, that is why the prices are kept high.
Extra fans may generate more income from bars and food, but if these services are concessions then the club won't see any extra income.
Football is ludicrously expensive and the cost increases over the past thirty years is probably four or five times inflation, but 52,711 against Burnley when the visitors returned around 1,000 tickets and in the aftermath of Covid is far more than I'd have anticipated at the start of the season.
The club could do a few cheap deals in the final days before games but that would piss off those who buy early, and would create chaos due to the current e-ticket situation.
We've had a thirty quid maximum for away fans in the PL for about ten seasons. We need similar consideration for home fans; but there's no chance we will get it.
 
Wasnt there a scheme some time back that if your kids were junior blues they could get two games a season for a quid each ? Or is my memory playing tricks.

I am reducing the amount of games I attend now due to cost of tickets and travel etc. Sadly other things have to come first like Bill's and food etc

I know the club keep back rows of tickets for corporate/ ticketing companies. Are those included in tickets sold? Even if they are empty.

for instance when I was in 107 there was about 3/4 rows of 6 seats that were never full, apart from bigger games. I’m only going off what I saw, but It didn’t look like 52,000, there was lots of empty seats around the ground.

im not bothered, but I’m wondering why so many people are buying tickets for games (tickets sold) and not turning up. It’s their choice, but we seem to affected by it more.

the club should prioritise filling the ground with cheaper seats, rather then focusing on revenue all the time.
