Toni Kroos

Out of nowhere, Jamie Jackson is reporting they've ended their interest in Kroos! Hours after papers said a £20m fee had been agreed.

I think United will go for Strootman and maybe Fabregas. Strootman, when fit, is an incredible player, but that injury of his looks nasty. And Fabregas is definitely leaving Barca it seems.

Like I said earlier ... Kroos will see out his final year. Jackson saying Van Gaal has pulled the plug is because he's trying to save the face of his source Red Ed the Equaliser. Is this officially their first snub of the summer?

Now for Poch to announce he's signed a new contract at Southampton and all his young guns are staying with him.

is that another way of saying, they actually agreed a fee with Bayern, went to talk to Kroos and he told them to sod off? ;).

No thats not how it works JMW

Young Toni paid for his own flight over to Manchester, booked into the Lowry hotel only to find out that he was no longer required as they have someone similar coming through their academy

That's option 1. Option 2 is to airbrush any interest from their history ala Davids/Ronaldinho and try to make out that Fellaini is better.

I can't see Southampton keeping hold of Shaw or Lallana regardless of whether Pochettino stays or not.

If I was van Gaal, I'd be on the blower to Ashley Cole straight away, just as I would if I was Pellegrini or Rodgers.

The only way Pochettino would be hanging around is if he is told the club won't listen to offers for either Shaw or Lallana

If Southampton were offered the best part of £50m for Shaw & Lallana, I think they'd be daft not to sell.

Invest that wisely and they could well improve on last season's finish.

I agree they would be daft not to sell, but if that were to happen they may also lose a very good manager.

Catch 22 for them really. Selling one of them is good business, but selling both is ripping their team apart.

It's a funny one. I like both players, Shaw in particular is going to be England's LB for the forseeable future yet he isn't the finished article by any means. Lallana has worked his way up through the leagues, and has had a very good season, however I cant help but think he's being hyped up in the typical English way we do off the basis of a tidy season in the PL in a team of well drilled and organised players.

If I was Lallana, I'd see this is my only chance to seek that big move. Who's to say he'd replicate last season's performances next season?

Where I'm going with this is that I dont neccessarily see this is ripping the team apart just by letting these two players go for huge sums. I'd have thought Southampton could buy more than adequate replacements for the pair of them and with pocket change left over. They could even put Callum Chambers on the left and see how he performs there. I just think that selling these two wouldn't neccessarily be the start of their downfall, and that it could actually benefit them in the long run.
