Travel to the USA

Austin is amazing and Houston cuisine is world class. Dallas... You can skip that.
Austin is a good town for a good night out, but Houston is a concrete wasteland, unless white table cloth steaks are your gig!

I doubt he’s traveling the States for BBQ, but if he’s in Austin, he’d be remiss if he didn’t look into La Barbeque on Cesar Chavez Blvd. Could be the best meat I have ever eaten anywhere. The brisket was of another world.

As for Dallas, Fort Worth is far nicer and more interesting…for about 3 minutes!

We went to Toronto, got the train to Montreal and then to Quebec, all fantastic cities, the French ones are beautiful.
Was sitting at an outdoor cafe in Quebec one evening when a squabble suddenly escalated into overturned tables and a stabbing!

One of the people I was with was an illegal, so we cleared the scene tout suite!

Other than that, it was a beautiful city, full of great food and amazing sights! :-)

Don’t come to Idaho

What on earth are you going to do with “2-3 nights in each of the big cities in Texas”???

Don’t waste your time!

If you fly to Miami, DRIVE the Gulf Coast, to get a “flavor of the South!” You can pick your stops, based on what you want to see and do. Then, when you get to NOLA, grab a flight anywhere in the (mid-)western US you might want to visit, THEN fly back to MIA for a night or two of R&R before heading home!

MIA-Tampa/St Pete - Pensacola/Destin are all in FL and all great beach towns. From there, it’s a choice of how much “Americana” you’re interested in. Most Brits seem to like a day or two (or one night, at least) in New Orleans (NOLA). If Houston grabs your fancy, it’s a short hop from NOLA, and you can literally fly to anywhere from Houston!

Just a thought…
Yes in terms of Florida go either one of 2 ways.....
From Miami go west and visit the Everglades and end up in Sarasota for the afternoon/ evening at Siesta Key or St Armands.
Next day drive through Long Boat Key to Ann Marie Island.
Next day the short route over the Skyway Bridge over to St Pete's Beach / Treasure Island / St John's Pass on the way to Clearwater (or even Dunedin a few miles north).
Next a bit of a drive to the Pan Handle - stop off at Crystal River and see the Manatees on the way to Pensicola.
Then on to New Orleans. Deffo 2 nights there.

Or if space travel is your thing, head north to Cocoa Beach and The Kennedy Space centre. In the evening do an amazing late night canoe tour of the biolumminous Indian River.
Then head over to Tampa and St Pete as above..... you will go through Orlando if you need to see Mickey and co.....

I love the US, and Canada.
Biggest disappointment of my life when they refused me permanent residence.
