In The mile long queue at immigration in Santa Ana, Ca. I was pretty much the only white guy, most were Latino.
The officials doing the "interview" were all non white.
I presented my paperwork, supporting letters from my employer, local Mayor who I'd gone to see. Tax records, etc etc.
I'd been working there on a young persons visa, and the lady just said...... "an American can do your job" stamped the paperwork and that was that. I couldnt afford an immigration lawyer.
I met a few Brits in the Kings Head pub in Santa Monica who were living/worling illegally, one guy I remember had even bought a house ! ...some suggested I just do that but I wasnt interested, it means you cant leave for a trip home and then get back etc.
Who knows, but I still have a love for America. Been back many times, have friends in San Diego and Galviston.Sounds like your life turned out just fine though. Probably for the best, sounds like you have a better quality of life where you are now than Southern California.
Going back to England makes me very nervous, not sure if I’ll do it againWho knows, but I still have a love for America. Been back many times, have friends in San Diego and Galviston.
I remember flying home on a Saturday back to my parents house in Stalybridge, I went to bed Sat night, got up Sunday, went for a walk round "The 'Bridge" everything was closed, it was cold and it started pissing down, I remember thinking........fucking hell.....hahaha
