i am going to put the following bets on the roulette.

5 on 0
5 on 7
5 on 29.
£1 on 17, 23 26 32 18.

will be back shortly with news.

there you go, one season ticket paid for using a 20 quid bet.

just drawn 600 in less than 5 mins:)

Congrats....now win us all one.

0 did'nt come out so i reckon it might be worth a tenner on its own in a bit, it hasn't come out for 109 spins and is well due.
i got 29 twice, 7 once, a couple of losses then 32 and 23, came to 644, i played the 44 and pulled the 600 out.

if you get to £250 then a double your money Roulette red/black or odds/evens

risks you losing your entire stake with a negative expected outcome.

my suggestion would be to take up poker and gradually 'grind' up your wedge into your season ticket.. of course, this might be a little too much work for some, but online you can always find action and through the course of the season I don't doubt you could cover your entire season ticket and a few beers per match - and maybe as many away games as you'd like:-

(it's all in the above, with a little humour too)

- anyone with half a brain can win money playing poker, but you have to apply yourself to it, and it's not an overnight solution.

people who can't be arsed can go and stick their money on a coin toss, but half the time they'll end up broke.

you decide...

;o)

thinking of giving this a go - laying against Murray to win Wimbledon. Odds are 10/1 and I want to win £100. So does that mean I have to pay £1000 into my betfair account and leave it there until he goes out?

I'm afraid roulette is for mugs too - like all casino 'house' games; see the above link. [EDIT, I'll stick it in here again for those whose mice are a little too sloth-like: http://www.okcupid.com/tests/the-profes ... itude-test ]

I was in Blackpool this Monday for an afternoon/evening and walked in on spec to the casino there. Although I was a little early they seemed to have a fairly reasonable-sized poker room (not 'house'-poker, but real poker; again, see above link) which to those people who can be bothered to learn the game could make for an extra fifty to a hundred quid a night they played the 0.50/1.00 no limit twenty-quid buy in cash games where the dealers turn up at 8 pm. I guess if they had more action they might extend those hours, but if I lived up there I'd be looking to talk to the management and expand on that stuff. They seemed to have some tournaments going too. This is the way to make money 'gambling', but as I used to tell people (usually girls on dates) who got curious when other friends of mine told them what I did for a living or in between contracts, "I don't gamble; I play backgammon and poker for money - there's a big difference".

yes

you'll probably win the 100, but you've still got to risk the 1,000 - and what if Nadal and Federer et al have off days.. most of the UK will be jumping up and down if Murray wins it, but you might be having a slightly grey day

;oD

(I like your thinking though, and BetFair because you can lay odds is a pretty good way of taking other people's money; I prefer American politics because most Brits seem to be clueless about it - laying Obama looks a good bet right now because I don't think he's got a cat in hell's chance of re-election)

The issue with that being that the elction is still a long way away and as such, the bets real value diminishes as you don't have access to that money.

yes SWP, that's right, however - a big plus on BetFair is you can trade around positions, and that can often mean 'legging into' a spread (as when dealing in derivative options positions) and then completing the final leg a little later to give you a positive net position at zero cost.

so you might not run the position until the full duration, and if you lay Obama when he's short odds and then 'buy' him back when he's longer odds you can still hoover up a little money.

I similarly laid O'Neill for the manager's job at OT sometime ago, then 'covered' it when his odds went out, locking in a guaranteed profit.

I took all the action on Arnold Schwarzenegger when I was out in CA and he was running for Governor, and I mean ALL the action on BetFair, because the odds being offered were ridiculous. Of course, they never recovered after I sucked all that money out, but it was a good example of a lot of Brits (I'm guessing mostly) not understanding too well the vagaries of American politics.

Ok- I'm going to try and emulate the OP. I've registered on betfair, have £25 (plus a further £25 if I lost the first bet).

I've laid Golden Waters in the 14:40 at Yarmouth at 4.7.

I stand to win £6 or lose £22 and I am psyched!

Edit: any tips appreciated as I know fuck all about horsey's. (I'm only playing the £25 as not really a big gambler)

Edit 2: I used the remainder to mess about, ended up with 4 bets somehow. Anyway, if the favourite (Locum) wins I end up £64. Yey.
