Tupac...

A commercial Chuck D without the genuine political substance

Having said that it would be foolish to knock the kids talent, shame Suge sent him to an early grave, would of loved to see how he evolved!

Massively overrated; musically and especially lyrically.

Typical psuedo-intellectual sociology that I came to expect from rap music back then. The whole "we speak to our culture" line was hugely overstated as was their influence on the mainstream.

He sold less records than Journey, Rihanna and Depeche Mode. Now tell me their "cultural influence".

No he has not infact All eyes on me has sold more albums worldwide than all of Rihannas albums combined. Journey have sold approx 80 million records in 2007 2Pac was recorded at over 75 million sales. That was 4 years and several albums ago. The only one I am not sure about is Depeche Mode who have over 100 million in sales.l

Oh look, more dishonest no sense from you. All have sold more than Pac. Rihanna has sold eighty million records. So have Journey. How can you 'not be sure' of Depeche Mode and freely admit that they sold twenty five million more?

You are a hack, searching for meaning where there is none, just like Tupac

Am I the only one here not bothered about record sales?

Never once have I ever judged a music talent by how many people bought their music.

it might matter to you, but his music doesn't sound any different whether 1mil bought it or 2mil

No Rihanna has sold 20 million albums and 60 million SINGLES. 2Pac has sold over 75 million ALBUMS completely different thing. Check it yourself and I am not sure of Depeche Mode because I dont know if 2Pac has cracked the 100 million mark yet the only numbers I am finding for his album sales are up to 2007.

You are surely not comparing single sales to album sales?. Have you checked how many SINGLES tupac has sold?. Way more than Rihanna and over 55 million more albums than her in 2007 and she is still alive and selling.

How can you call me names when you know nothing about me?. We are discussing an artist here and everyone has different tastes in music but calling him a hack is a bit strong considered he is regarded in the top 5 rappers of all time.

You are right I dont actually care if he sold one or one million I only use it to defend him from those who claim he had zero impact. The guy still tops record sales charts years after his death. There are university courses on him how can he be considered "a hack"?.

Musically he is up there with Bob Marley and MJ, legends.

Yeah seen it before also, Tupac is alive!!It's a bit eerie isn't it? Technology will allow more and more of this from now on, and I remember seeing something on a movie programme where they're currently looking into doing it with dead actors and making new films with them in. Weird.

This had me in tears, if only he were still alive he could show some of the fakes how it's done.
