TV Series

Just finished season 2 of Shrinking. Very enjoyable. Lots of over acting but its a frivolously nice story and some good laughs.

Just finished S9 of BBC1’s Shetland.
Formulaic who done it with several of the main characters being dismissed with a peripheral character the guilty party.
Ashley Jensen has breathed some life into the show but Steven Robertson (Sandy) is one of the worst actors ever. Expressionless and monotone, a cardboard cut out would be better.
Haha. I just read this out to the wife and she said, "Somebody" wrote that? Or "You" wrote that"?
He is terrible.

2 episodes into series 3 of 'From' and just feels like more of the same. More bat shit crazy storylines just making it more and more fragmented and no answers to anything. I don't want to stop watching it yet, but i can feel 9.9 episodes of the same and then a last 5 minute cliff hanger.

I watched FROM recently.

I enjoyed the first season. Something different and LOST like.
But season 2 and 3 are just going nowhere.
I’m actually not arsed about answers anymore or what’s going on. Dragged on with little progression. I won’t be watching season 4.

Usually when I see people have watched a few seasons of something and they say they are gona stop now I think why not just see it through to the end. Least there’s characters you’ve grown fond of etc. But with FROM I actually can’t think of any of them I particularly like?

Just lost its way for me so that’s me done. If season 4 improves it and I see people praising it I’d be open to watching again as the idea was good. But for now it’s on to the next show.

Just watched a Documentary called Fly, It's absolutely amazing, filmed over 7 years about base jumpers 10/10

That's the trick go no where keeps you interested just enough to keep you watching! Lost was similar and for me should have finished after season four! The end of lost made it all understandable! It was just to long a series!

Lockerbie powerful and harrowing story and although 27 years ago the government stilled lied to all the families involved. Nothing has changed since if it wasn’t for people like Jim Swire and Alan Bates the true would never be known.e

I really enjoyed it. Can’t remember why I started watching it now because if someone described the general idea of it to me, I’d have thought, fuck that shit.

I’d definitely recommend sticking with it though.

Bit annoyed I watched it when I did now though. I usually wait until series are completely done and dusted until I start them, so I can watch all the way through. I think I read that the fourth series won’t be out until 2026, by which time I’ll have forgotten everything from series 1-3.

Finished last night and now on the documentary. Sky got this one spot on - 9/10

Re-watching the first season of True Detective. It’s arguably the greatest single season in the history of television.
Was great because it was so different, but it wandered down too many dead ends to introduce bayou characters and their strangeness.

About 4 episodes too long!

Just watched Day of the Jackal which was glitzy eurotrash.

Thought The Agency had finished and so binge watched it, only to find out there are 3 more Friday episodes! :-/

It’s much better than DOTJ. Grittier, more spy craft and seems more realistic.

Also currently working my way back through Spooks. At Season 6. It’s definitely aged, but still lots of interesting twists and turns I didn’t remember from about 15 years ago!!

Loved spooks back when it was airing. Always felt it kept fresh in its storylines and even though the core of characters generally stayed the same, they had a good churn of characters coming in and out.

New season of the Rookie started in the States.
New episode of High Potential in the States..
Going to give Brilliant Minds a chance as well.
The Christmas episode of The Madame Blanc Mysteries.
All downloaded and will watching the next few days.

Bit pissed off with the last ep of 'The Agency'.

It's been, brilliantly, playing chess with its audience only to blatantly reveal its hand. Sure, you could see the opening move in the beginning, but I was enjoying the masked warfare in the middle!

Let's hope it goes back to its excellent game for the last eps.

Just started this book:

My reason for drawing attention to it on this thread is because it's out-of-print and quite rare. Copies are usually advertised at £50+ online. I should know as I've been after it for a long time.

But there's currently one going for £18.99 (including postage) on the website for World of Books aka 'WOB'. Exactly the same copy is being advertised by them on eBay for £70. It's in Very Good Condition.

Finally got mine off Amazon France for £18 last week - it was also mispriced. Very impressed so far.

So if there are any fans of the series reading this, it's definitely worth a punt. The author is a former MOJO editor who is probably better known for a bestselling book he wrote about The Clash.

Missing you just landed on Netflix
Only a,few episodes with some big name British actors really enjoyed it.
Watched the first three episodes last night.
Richard Armitage playing Richard Armitage as usual but watchable so far.
Couple of agreeable looking ladies too ( if I’m allowed to say that.

Say nothing. Started superb and the first 6 episodes or so were great. Then it feels like the last 4 just got bogged down in the politics and kind of lost what made the first 6 so good.

Bing-watched American Primeval on Netflix last night/this morning. I thought it was very good. I nearly gave up on it at the start though because I found the cinematography really annoying (close ups, weird camera angles, gritty unrealistic colour, etc) but I stuck with it in spite of that. I think it could have been a lot better if filmed a bit more realistically. Half the joy of a western is the amazing scenery.
