TV Series

Just watching This City is Ours.

Three episodes in and it is IMO very good. It's up to date, engaging, the acting is good and the storyline is current and relevant...

If you enjoyed Kin, this may just be for you?
It ‘IS’ Kin, but Scouse version. Very good though

I just finished Series 2 of Severance. After being a bit uncertain to start with, it definitely grew on me and I’ll be eagerly checking out when Series 3 is ready.

As much as I enjoyed it, I’m not quite in the ‘best series of all time’ camp though. I still think they tried a bit too hard to be clever at times. And there were a couple of episodes, that while maybe necessary to the plot, weren’t particularly entertaining. Which is the whole point of television series at the end of the day, right? And I couldn’t watch the whispering guy with the white hair without thinking of the David Mitchell spoof baddie.

I’ll finish on a positive note though. Definitely the best new series I’ve watched for a good while. And I think they got the balance just right in closing off a few major story lines, whilst still leaving plenty of uncertainties as to what series 3 might bring.

I started watching This City is Ours thinking it was our take on We own this city and then shock, horror when I realized what it was. I managed to last three episodes because it wasn't another tiring cockney gangster crap and Sean Bean is in, but he is gone now. So, is it worth continuing watching it? All eight episodes and so different from scandi-noir which I much prefer .

Will check it out, thanks! Always open to discovering something new. Speaking of which—any recommendations from godlike productions lately? I know the forums there can go in every direction, but sometimes you catch a really good thread on new TV shows or documentaries worth watching. Would love to know if something’s trending over there—maybe a hidden gem or some mind-bending series that’s flying under the radar
