TV Series

Did a 5 year tour over there in the late 80's with the R.A.F so was looking forward to watching this but after reading the reviews, it looks like its sympathetic to the main characters so will give it a miss.
It doesn't reflect the IRA in a good light in my opinion. It sympathies the IRA volunteers in regards how they were groomed and peer pressure from families. But shows how badly they were treated by Gerry Adams and lied too.

Not sure what reviews you have been reading but it certainly not sympathetic to the main characters. It allows them to tell their stories without judgement or comments. They tend to condemn themselves by their own words. As in all conflicts there are issues on both sides. Today with the release of the report into Stakeknife's activities it shows what both sides were up to.

It was this from the Guardian
Thought Trespasses was ok , I tend to feel that anything about the Troubles is slanted towards how poorly the British behaved in N.I so tend not to watch them.
That will be my inherent bias tho as well .
Might give this a go now after the comments.

Binged my way through the first 5 episodes of Alien Earth. It's a lot better than I thought it would be.

Fantastic and so enlightening
I'm on episode 3 and it is an interesting watch with superb performances from the two sisters. The troubles as seen through an IRA sympathetic lens so far.

edit. reading the comments above that may change in later episodes. the more light that is shone on the recent history of Northern Ireland the better for me.

If you watch ‘The Disappeared’ you will see what a lying, conniving bastard he is. It is on Prime. Another good insight into this story is ‘ I, Dolours’ also on prime. He’s bang to rights.
