Two more retail companies look doomed

Debenhams are fucked, The fella who did the Acqua Di Parma concession at Leeds White Rose centre has fucked off. Literally picked his stuff up and walked out. They have sent him no stock. Same applies to many beauty concessions, they have no been able to honour vouchers and stuff like that. I have bought a few scents this week, every single one i looked for that popped up with a Debenhams link was "out of stock", every one of them which is about 10 different searches.

That has turned into a viscous circle, no stock, people go elsewhere and lose confidence.

I think they are looking which store sells most of what and cutting away sections that are bad. This high street death thing is really ramping up now. Expect this year to be the worst on record for sales and footfall.

We are just a small shop on the high street and we are having the best January on record.

You taken over a funeral directors or something? :-D

That is good some sectors and setups are ok. For the average consumer based shop though i fear the worst. Any shop you could point at down Market Street is on thin ice (we moved our shop you lurking rags hehe) i think. The products are not so major it warrants you getting of your arse so people don't Especially so when you see the item you want online with up to 70% knocked off the shop price.

I was at Debenhams this summer at my parents' and the aircon had packed in. I was trying on suits in a boiling changing room. We asked the staff and they suggested that they're not going to bother paying to get it fixed. That doesn't sound like the decision of a booming company.

Maybe they thought you were interested in buying a boiler suit.

To be fair to M&S they have offered a lot of staff jobs in other stores.
My missus is a manager at M&S and they do relocate staff wherever they can.

Fair enough. Makes a change. I suppose some people actively want redundancy too. A lot of the staff at the big store in Warrington are getting on a bit, particularly in the food bit
