Txiki Begiristain

Id take Champions League win anyday of the week over Carabao Cup dominance. So would our board.

Dippers also in pole position to win another title to that on top of another title.

Look at the difference in cash spent, there is no denying who is doing better job and its certainly not Txiki.
Why are you such a massive ****?

Indeed.

We also might not have a striker for this season to replace Kun. But if we sign Håland this Summer then it will have been better to feel the pinch this season than us having signed ‘mystical striker who everyone thinks we should have signed’… Kane for £150m at 28 with dodgy ankles? lazy Lukaku at 28 for £98? An ageing Lewandowski or CRonaldo or Messi for a few years?… or Håland for the next decade a year later?

It took us a year to replace Kompany. But waiting to sign Dias a year later is better for us long term than having gone out and bought someone available at the time with no long term plan.

Yeah Liverpool won the title in the interim, but we can’t win the league every season. And we might not win the league this season, it’s no disgrace and it’s not the end of the world. Football doesn’t end at the end of this season, it goes on forever. It’s always about the long term since we aren’t flash-in-the-pan Leicester or Blackburn. We are about the long term and winning trophies consistently over a long period of time.
Well stated.

It amazes me that people still cannot understand the long term vision that is ADUG’s strategy for CFG.

City get into CL every season = €100M
Win trophies every season to create the halo that those outside the UK/PL understand as success.
(I say OUTSIDE, because City get zero credit and are labeled as simply “buying” trophies!)
Develop best young talent in the world and utilize or sell for profit.

Create a consistently profitable halo club and replicate this strategy across CFG.

I’m sure many will forget that NYCFC won the MLS Trophy in the States last season. I’d have bet money AGAINST that at the beginning of the season! But success breeds success, especially when people call your team “Champions” for a full season and your fans get to gloat for the year.

Along the way, ADUG has sold chunks of the company to big, serious, deep pocketed investors. Those sales have valued CFG at OVER 10X the original investment of 14 years ago, and those sales were a few years ago BEFORE more PL wins and a trip to the CL Final last year!

We are entitled to nothing, but we continue to set the bar for both on and off field performance of ANY FOOTBALL CLUB ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!

I’ll take it!

After 44 years of ACTUAL hurt, it feels like every season is filled with excitement, anticipation and the expectation of seeing some of the best players in the world playing some of the best football in the world.

If this is hurt, then hurt me some more, please, Txiki!!!

because he is consistent, one of the biggest twats on bluemoon, how he hasn't been banned for constant wumming is beyond me, adds nothing to the forum except negativity
If I ever read a post of his after a good win praising us I’d be less inclined to think he’s a massive **** but I don’t recall that ever happening.
Funny the ones who slip under the radar because this massive **** doesn’t even hide the fact he’s not a blue anymore.

His colleague at dippers is doing better job.

Really? Im sure that Txiki and Ferran have been here for quite a long time, and part of the clubs philosophy is to let an unhappy player leave (but at a price that suits us), who would want to have a player hanging around who stinks out the club.

Anyway, lets discuss 'his colleague at dippers' comment. Are they enjoying (or suffering) the same extended, continous success we are? No we have a squad that only needs minor tweaking (for the past 5/6/7/8 years) whereas they will take a punt on an unknown who becomes a 'relevation'

Anyway, probably gonna stick around as it seems its not worth going back to support Chelskisea atm

Not got a lot wrong has he.
And an awful lot right. Txiki, along with Soriano, has a clear policy: assign a value to each target and do not go above that. Vetting and choosing targets is done with thorough consideration of the whole character. One result is swerving some bullets, Alexis being the prime example. Personally, I am more excited by the signing of Alvarez than the prospect of Haarland, good though he is. Could be the bargain of the century. £14m? Wow.
The media incidently have said little about Alvarez. Why? Because they, in their ignorance, think he's a minor signing. They go by the price.

I think the only criticism that can possibly be levelled at Txiki is that he’s been a bit lucky with regard to players we apparently wanted but didn’t get.

If media stories were to be believed (big if) then we were in for and missed out on Messi, Ronaldo, McGuire, Fred, Sanchez and Kane none of whom it transpires would’ve been good signings. If that bunch of has beens and misfits had signed I doubt we’d have had the same level of success.
