Txiki Begiristain

I think there is an assumption in this thread that Pep cannot work with certain players eg Bony Kolarov etc
If we get an offer for Bony we should take it, he needs a move to get himself back on track as it's not working out for him at City and I don't think a new manager will change it. Kolarov has been a good figure at the club but these days, much like Yaya it's not his ability that's the problem he goes missing and switches off when the team needs him the most... Pep can only improve a player that wants to work for the team to begin with he can't make anyone do that.

Pellegrini takes a huge chunk of the blame here..Sure Txixi didn't force upon Mangala,Fernando etc on him,he requested them..and he must have had a say in extending those contracts..Any top class manager would have slowly seen out the deadwood with proper planning..Txixi wouldn't sell a player Pellegrini wanted to keep..Pep will know who he wants to keep after a few sessions now that the whole group is slowly coming back and those he doesn't want will be told to find a new club, and may tell them prior that they won't be in the PL & CL squads(Pep does seem a man of his word) ..Some will leave while some will chose to rot away but finding a new club for themselves next year will be difficult esp after an year without football

The very purpose of a Director of Football is to make sure the squad is flexible for future managers. Txiki would sell players Pellegrini wanted. Directors of Football are to stop Ferguson type scenarios happening where any change in manager creates turmoil.

The complaint would certainly not be void.
If indeed we shift Kolarov or Zabaleta it will be of benefit to them and their new club.
I doubt we'd fare well.
That's my point.

We can't just get another midgielder. Our squad is full.

We need to move players on first or we'll get totally ripped off in any outgoing deals.

We are in a terrible position to negotiate. This is my point.

And loosing Zab on free would have been better ?

It will also be to our benefit we do not want Kolarov and probably ready to move Zaba on as well that how deals work

We can loan Zinchenko out to make room and could be others Zuccillni ? Denayer ?

You really aren't getting this are you?

No, the idea should be that we sell Zabaleta. He's only in his early 30's,is a wonderful professional and highly decorated at both club and international level. We should be able to receive a decent fee for him.
However, we are in a position where we have no basis to negotiate. Everybody knows we are desperate to sell due to our squad problems.
Zabaleta will either leave on a loan with us paying half his wages, on a free after us failing to shift him at all or for peanuts with us paying half his wages.

Every club knows we are desperate to move players out, so rather than selling an asset for a decent fee and removing wages of our books and avoid paying a huge loyalty bonus we'll get our pants pulled down.
See Edin Dzeko last summer. We sold him for €15 million euro, that was about £12 million. So we got £12 million for a striker in his peak with one of the PL's best goals per minute ratios ever. That's a similar fee to the likes of Clinton N Gi, Soldado, Flaurin Thauvin, Mitrovic, Paulino. Liverpool have just sold Joe Allen for £13 million.

Dzeko was past his peak when we sold him.

But our squad is full. Everyone does know we need rid.
We can't buy till we sell, if we do buy, we desperately need to sell.

I don't need to wait and see, our squad, the PL & CL rules are in place.
In any walk of life, it's harder to shift something if you're desperate.
We are currently desperate.
No it is you who are becoming desperate. As I said before wait until August 31st and then lets access the situation. We are progressing nicely signing up a good mixture of youth and experience. Yes there are question marks regarding 3 or 4 players who may or may not leave and I agree some of these will be hard to shift and may have to be loaned out at a loss. But in the greater scheme of things a million or two here and there will be of little importance.
With respect to starting the season slowly because of all this once again that is a red herring. Once we don't implode and do a Chelski it will be our form December on that will determine whether we win the league. I urge everybody to chill out and wait for the season to start.

Dzeko was past his peak when we sold him.

Really? 29 was past his peak? Was Jovetic too? We also did a desperate deal to get rid of him.

Was Soldado in his peak? Paulino? Had Mitrovic had a peak? Joe Allen? His contract is up in 12 months. Yet they still got more for a rank average mid table squad player than we did for a two time PL winner with a top goals record in two top leagues.
