UEFA confirm their bid to stop City and keep Utd succesful

I'm not worried.......these guys will know exactly what they are doing. If they have a ten year plan to make us one of the biggest clubs in the world it will happen.

I have followed City all my life, and right now we have had more column inches devoted to us all over the worlds press/media I'll bet you a pound to a pinch you could go to the furthest outposts of the world and people will have heard of us, and thats before we have won anything!!

Like the Sheik has said... this is about building a brand around City, it will take time and investment. I am particularly pleased in the investment that has been shown to our academy, it shows long term commitment to the club and the clubs future.

I'd rather have our worries than any other clubs right now : )

I believe that our owners are fully aware of these plans and are already taking steps to ensure our turnover will dramatically increase over the next few years. Starting with the expansion of Eastlands to a 64,000 capacity stadium and developing a hotel etc in the grounds. Also by marketing the club into different world markets (i.e. The Arab states, China etc) our shirt sales and merc sales will dramatically increase (esp if we start playing attractive football whilst winning trophies).

I can see our turnover being 3-4 times the amount it is now in the next 4-5 years which would solve all problems

Terrible attempt at scare mongering. I'm not concerned in the slightest and i'm sure a group with £600 billion are not either. Sit back and enjoy the ride, OP.

I think the subject title and the article itself has got everyone in a tizzy.

Quote from the article.....
Which English clubs will be affected?
Chelsea and Manchester City, as they both need their owners to pay the players. Manchester United will be hit if their debts stay high. In fact, the whole Premier League could be hit: 14 of the 20 clubs made a loss in 2008. End quote.

So the shite are going to pay of their debt in 2 years.? I don't think so! The bonds they are looking to sell are set to expire in 2017. The bonds don't pay off debt they just shift the debt to a better rate of interest.

I'm positive that we (with such excellent and wealthy owners), will be in a stronger than most position, to manoeuvre our financial status.

Lots of clubs across Europe are in the same boat financially, and are not going to be able to clear their debt in the time scale. Are they going outlaw big Football names like Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Etc? These names are what make the Champions League a world wide brand. The teams we are talking about, will if the restrictions are harsh, will just make there own inter European league or maybe even World League. The Champions League would die and we would be going to Europe for away league games.

European League will be here soon enough.....

IMO people underestimate how soon my above statement will come to fruition, these are the first shots by UEFA which will lead to the "elite" clubs breaking away in order to compete within their own league.

Look at the Prem for example and we all laugh about how one of the "Sky 4" is soon to lose their chumps spot, this will be another catalyst for them all to get round the table and continue to hatch their plan.

The sides who play in the chumps each year get a huge proportion of their turnover from it and as such all these new proposals from UEFA prove is that none of them want to lose their place, they know they can't function without the revenue.

We will be allowed to join but what UEFA are trying to do is ensure that no other club after us can be bought by a rich benefactor and cause the same problems that we are doing.

Garry Cook, for all his sins, touched upon this when he did his USA ramble about "no relegation, American Football conference style" when he first joined City.

European League will be moved to Saturday afternoon/evening kick offs and we will all be spending weekends in Munich, Barcelona, Milan etc watching City play on a Saturday before you know it.

I am sure there will still be some form of domestic participation but the main revenue will come from global TV rights from the european league.

If you can imagine the option of competing against the european elite home and away (Barca, Real, Bayern, AC, Inter, Juve etc) rather than small clubs like Burnley, Wigan, Portsmouth, Bolton etc then you start to get the idea of the bigger picture - this is why Sheikh Mansour will develop City and the surrounding areas as a tourist attraction (Casino, Hotel etc) so that people will spend the weekend flying around Europe in order to watch the game and spend cash.

My 2p's worth anyway.

As I see it we have two choices:

1. Forget European Football but constantly win the Premiership (where the rules don't apply)

2. Run up a huge debt but cover the interest each year.

These rules wil be great for United, brilliant for Bayern Munich, bad for Chelsea and awful for us.

Debt allowed

Investment only in proportion to turnover = big clubs get bigger and nobody can ever break the cartel.

UEFA could have imposed a rule which simply said "no debt" but the cartel didn't like that so UEFA went with this to keep the big clubs happy and us out.

If this gets past the lawyers, as it looks like it will, this is City's biggest challenge. We have 2.5 seasons to go spending mad and if, at the end of it, we are not in the CL it is unlikely we will be for a long while. Even if we are, because our wages will be in excess of our turnover we will probably only get one go at Europe.

We either work within the rules (ie know our place) or call UEFA's bluff and see if they would go ahead with their competition without the Premiership Champions (potentially) In one way it's a great opportunity to dominate domestically but I think our owners are after European domination and this rule makes it a lot harder if not impossible.

For those of you about to write "don't worry we can charge £10 million for an exec box or get internal sponsorship" this will not be allowed by UEFA under these rules. More than any other club this rule is aimed at us and as such there won't be any loopholes.

I'm not saying there is absolutely no way around it (I can't think of one) but it will be difficult and Cook's proclamation that we will be the biggest club in the world is ill-timed (again) in the light of UEFA's impending ruling.
Do you honestly think they would want a champions league, without the champions of England,Spain, Italy, Russia and Germany competing in it?

No worries guys! these UEFA top guys are obviously not business man! before i even finished reading the article i come up with plenty of way so "go around" these rules! im just laughing about all the work these idiots deploy only to make life harder for us and chelsea! when all work is done in vain anyway. :)

players wages:
All players may esteblish their own "investment" company somewhere in the world! where our owners through one of their companies transfer money, easy!

for the club itself, you have to put some extra work in to get around this but its duable! the reason you are not allowed to be sponsored by anyone with unpropotional amounts of money! Hence our owners will probably use the company and brand "manchester city" to "invest" on other markets! and therefore be able to use money INVESTED! in the the brand/company manchester city!

when it comes to sponsorships our owners corparation empire will trade with (for example) Virgin where Virgin records LTD virgin Atlantic LTD virgin Space LTD will sponsor city with a propotional share of money already invested from our owners empire.

its only one way to put an end for clubs like ours, to change the law where clubs are companies! as long as they are! we can start earning money by invest in food, banks, retail what ever they want! fuck why not go into the OFFshore business and drilling oil in the middel east!

Im part owner of an Engineerng company 50 employees, and we do this kind of stuff ever year to avoid taxes! and the reason we can do it! 80 per cent of our costumers are located in Norway (oil/gas) internaitonal business and trade is a wonderful thing! because all nations laws will never go hand in hand with eachother :).

Though it seems most are, i'm actually not worried at all. We have the biggest heads in the game working for this club and the wealthiest owners in the world. There is no way that us and Madrid* will let things go smoothly and stop us competing in europe. Even if these rules do come into play, United would be stuffed as their debt is too large and there's no way it will be balanced by 2012-2013 and like others have already said, we will inevitably find ways of getting money into the club.

*(I'm assuming this rule would also affect Madrid as their recent outlay is more ridiculous than ours and would make it impossible for them to break even)

No, as long as United cover the interest on the debt they are fine and with their refinancing they should be ok by then.

The rule is OK for Madrid too as they have the biggest turnover in the world and you can spend your turnover as long as you can afford the interest from footballing turnover, which they can.

The rule is aimed at us. The ball is in our court. The current elite have found a way of barring us while keeping themselves fine. If it wasn't so anti-city I would have to admire how clever it is, though how they can argue it gives smaller clubs a chance is laughable.

I say forget European footy and win the Prem year in year out. See how they like that.

Real Madrids purchases of both Kaka and Ronaldo were financed by loans from banks such as La Caixa, Santander and Caixa Madrid. Under these new proposals, these wouldn't be accepted. Hence it isn't really good for Madrid either.

Yes our owners have a masterplan. The blueprint for success has been accelerated. Totally agreed with you on all points!
