It comes into force in 2012/13 season and you have to make a loss for three years to actually be banned which effectively gives us until 2016 to break even - no fucking worries!

We would still have half the turnover of say Real Madrid and Utd so would still be at a huge disadvantage. United might not be able to afford to buy massively but we will be banned from it.

If we got rid of a few numpties who call themselves footballers at City the wage bill would come down hugeley

Jo £50000 * £2.5 * * *

these 2 alone would save us £10 million a year

If this does go through wouldn't it undermine the European competitions in general? By barring teams then they'll be losing out on getting the best in Europe.

So if a team wins the PL but the spending is not inline with their turnover then they would be barred. The CL spot would then go to the next best place team, and continue down the league until it reaches a team that is spending within its limits. This would mean the likes of Bolton and Fulham would be playing CL football... hmmmm...can just see their little competitions becoming meaningless very quickly.

Correct and also how can you judge each club fairly?

For example a season ticket at chelsea is roughly £1200 and at City its £500 !!!

Chelsea already have an unfair advantage on turnover because of how much they nail there fans!!!

Exactly my thoughts. If City won the Premier League 5 years running , but couldn't play in the Chumps league it would become just that a meaning less competition and UEFA would lose all credibilty

If the sheik wants to continue pumping money into city he will be able to.
All he needs to so is stick his name on our shirt a and pay the club a silly amount of money for the privelige and hey prest we become profitable over night!

This is a VERY good point. Does this mean the fans are going to get ripped off at some clubs? Hopefully our owners will think of us first ;)

By that time, we'll have won a premier league title most probably, and be champions league regulars. This means the wages we offer top players can come more into line with what the likes of Arsenal and United pay.

Get rid of expensive, average players on mega-salaries (i.e Wayne Bridge on 90k a week, no disrespect to him but that's ridiculous) and start buying young promising players at the start of their career who'll be pleased with a fraction of that.

We've already seen it by our interest in the likes of Ansaldi, Canales, Delph, Moses, Azpilicuteta, Aleksic before it fell through...we're waiting for the right deals but the focus has already switched to getting them in young and developing them (and thus being able to pay much lower wages) - the owners are prepared for this and know exactly what they're doing. They are world leaders in commerce, you really think they wouldn't be prepared for a major piece of legislation like this affecting an industry they have a financial stake in?
