ULEZ Letter

quite simply these needs to be implemented and its impact in the real world then if a small number of the poor and disadvantaged are impacted too adversely the thing can be tweaked to be a better fit.

Too many people are influenced by a hate for Labour, for Khan or just for change they are believing some shit and not seeing the facts.

Facts - its Johnsons baby from when he was London Mayor and its being widened is because Shapps insisted on it as part of a TFL bail out in Covid times. Obvs the Tories didn't mention that but for the life of me I cannot understand why Labour didn't campaign on it.

Lies - its all Khans doing - its not see above. I saw a tweet from a Labour canvasser from the byelection who was astounded to be met on the doorstep by someone ranting and raving about "Khans ULEZ tax" and how he wasn't going to pay it whilst at the same time charging up his Tesla on his drive. And we have a lad from Oldham seemingly worried about its impact - can't see Khan extending its borders to Royton. Oh and the Tory campaigned on the ticket that he would get the ULEZ charge dropped....... how? He is one MP and its in law so he had no power in that respect.
Never let the facts get in the way of a hypocritical Tory campaign.

Legislate, then get your local Tories to campaign against the Labour Council implementing the legislation.

Air pollution causes cancer. It's not debateable.

So yeah, just like I'm sure smokers got all upset when they were told their smoking was giving other people cancer, now people in high emissions cars (and all of us who drive cars daily) are going to get upset, but no matter how upset you get, it's still true.

It’s one of those topics where there needs to be cross party consensus regardless of if there’s public support for it or not tbh and crack on. Unfortunately not going to happen though, it’ll be used as a battleground for the election if the conservatives think it’s a vote winner despite them actually being fully for it.

Until last week there was cross party consensus!

The conservative government campaigned on it 4 years ago, they made Sadie Khan do it as part of the TFL bailout and he is more than happy to do it.

It’s only because of the by-election the tories are making it a wedge.

Only within the M25 apparently

I’m in Oldham, I have a 2011 diesel you know the cars that everyone was encouraged to buy by Gordon Brown! I did drive it to the FA cup final so that’s possibly why I did get a letter, as for the loophole if thousands did it to Khan imagine that coming through everyday to his office that would be worth watching, illegal or not. The guy gifted his car to Khan so he technically is the owner, same as I own my car but it’s my wife insures it, any speeding tickets etc come to me, same would happen with Khan.
The ULEZ is been massively expanded in London almost the size of the one in Greater Manchester proposals! It’s all a pure money making scam as he’s doing on the back of flawed and incorrect data which when questioned on he just doesn’t answer, it’s also not one of his mandates he’s just done this off his own back, the scrap page scheme is laughable and they know that people can’t afford to buy newer vehicles especially at the moment, the only saving Grace about the Manchester one was it didn’t affect private cars but I’m sure that would soon be introduced.
I live in Prestwich, near junction 17 of the M60. Bury New Rd which leads off the junction towards Manchester is the 10th most polluted road in the UK.
I drive a 2004 registered car which is compliant.
I also cannot afford to buy a new car but for the sake of my heart and lungs fully back ULEZ.
If a scheme comes in Manchester at least you will get £5000 scrap for your car.
Which I can probably smell from here.

How do you know you’ll get the £5k?

No I know, I meant exactly that, meant to say “now” after saying it’s not going to happen.
