United away

Bet you've talked about how much the football has improved and the success we've had on the pitch since the takeover though. It's all because of the increase in income, if you hadn't made the connection. It is all about the money, or as Bill Clinton so succinctly put it all all those years ago "it's the economy, stupid".
Ticket revenue? Corporate? What, that's improved our playing staff? We were spending big before that happened. The club have made it harder for fans to get away tickets so we all keep in all the cup schemes, it's not rocket science. Doesn't make it right. It also doesn't mean we will continue to pay it, good luck trying to get a big attendance when the hardcore say enough is enough, we'll pick and choose, Corporate won't fill it on their own.

Fortunately I'm ok for both! Scum and Seville. However it stinks when we have 3000 for the swamp starting at 16000 points and selling out at 13750points
Then 2300 for Seville. Starting at 15000 points. Less tickets lower criteria than OT ?????? People who planned Seville have already laid out a fortune. Committed !
We had 2300 tkts in gladbach down to 11750 points (I think ) it sold out then all of a sudden they all can't go!! Then they're 10 a penny
I know loads of lads who booked Seville who weren't in gladbach. However every blue I met in gladbach had booked Seville
The sums don't add up!

Gave up chasing points years ago when I kept falling further behind for scum tickets every year, tried Platinum a couple of years but didn't really do enough aways and still fell further back.

I did my full seasons in the 70's, 89's and 90's so had fuck all points to show from it, when I could afford to return after various family/financial reasons for the final Keegan year I've never been anywhere near a scum ticket .....and never will so I feel I can comment as almost a neutral on this topic.

The club need to look at 3 areas and be transparent:-

1) declare the number if tickets given to internal staff Inc players .....how did a row of Sunderland fans get into our end at Wembley?

2) declare the number of corporate tickets taken out of the pot both for our season ticket corperates and our various sponsors

3) Every fan applies for their own ticket. No more supporters club tickets. In this day and age everyone can apply for their own ticket. The argument that branch members want to be loved and sit together..... Use the family and friends option.

Been to every away game since the last derby bar one, have a platinum card plus in all cup schemes so how can I be even further away from qualifying this season than last.

Because you enter the Eithad through the turnstiles mate.

Really feel that loyalty points should be done on a system similar to that of the Champions League seeding in that points should be done over the last 5 years.

I'm sure there are many like myself, younger blues that won't be able to ever catch up those at the top but who could probably give them a good run for their money for games attended in the last 5 years.

Similarly as mentioned above those who have taken a break for a season or not retained points for whatever reason will be able to get derby tickets by consistently attending whatever games they can and moving up that way.

You'd think that giving us the 5,700 or so in the top tier of the East stand would make it easier to manage from a security point of view but I won't hold my breath, they've been short-changing us on derby tickets for years.

The rags allocation came about by an argument with the FA. 5% is the baseline that all clubs need to work on and should be offering to away fans. When United started to extend there shithole further they were informed that they need to abide by the 5% rule. They took the FA to task over this and complained that just because they had a bigger stadium why should there fans suffer with less tickets. They brokered and agreement that as there was no other club within 20% capacity of their shit hole they only had to offer the same amount of tickets as the next highest stadium capacity is and that was Arsenal at 60,000. Hence why we and all away teams get 3,000.

Got tickets for this one and as I said in another post on this thread I guarantee hundreds of kids and tourists and that is just not in the rags section

Because you're a proper fan and not a corporate bell end.

But like it or not the reality is that we now have a lot more corporate supporters AND we are far more successful so inevitably there will be a bigger demand. Do you want to go and tell someone paying tens of thousands for a box that they can't have a ticket for the Swamp? It's not pleasant and I sympathise with the fans who've missed out but to maintain the current level of success City have to keep increasing revenues and so there is a need to keep the corporates and sponsors happy.
May as well just scrap Loyalty Points now then. Just sack em off, they mean nothing.

"Highest bidder please..."

I'm a big fan of supporters clubs - I think to be fair to them they offer fans who are committed enough to join a club and meet up to watch the games etc the chance of a ticket they otherwise would never get. They get 10% of the allocation for every game so for this one they would have gotten 300 tickets. That's 300 tickets to a body that represents more than 50,000 City fans. To say they are the problem is delusional to some extent.

The issue with Corporate ticketing in my book is how negligible the money is to City. I've heard it costs around £10-15k per season for a box (which gives you first refusal on up to 8 away tickets to every away game) depending where it is in the ground. They are going to get their cut of this new £7b+ TV deal which blows corporate income out the water, by an incomprehensible distance. So why is the club adamant about reducing the importance of loyalty points - even renaming them to ticket points! It shows how concerned they are about the traditional local fan base.

Please re-think who you blame for it as well. It's ALL the clubs fault. If you got offered a ticket from a points whore, or from a supporters club I'm pretty sure you'd take it. It's the club that facilitate all of this and if someone is desperate enough to get a ticket at any means, then fair play to them! I just wish it was possible for more people to get tickets based on their past commitment and loyalty to the club, rather than the depth of their pocket!

But don't blame other City fans for wanting to go and watch the club play in big games!

The owners want the club to be self-sufficient going forward, part of that means maximising income from sponsorship and corporate hospitality. Last time I looked at the bottom of the web page there were 18 sponsors names - even if you exclude the big ones, Etihad and Nike, the rest must be bringing in around £1m per year each, £16m a year is no small matter to a club operating close to break-even. If those sponsors ask for tickets for games like United or Chelsea away do you seriously think the club will say "get to the back of the queue"? That's the harsh reality, however unacceptable it may seem to the rest of us.

I don't see a problem with the corporate people who see City .
They bring plenty to the club .

Hi guys, I'm looking for a bit of help. I'm a football writer putting together a piece on the 6-1 game from 2011 ahead of the derby later this month for a major UK website. I'd love to speak to anyone who was at that game - could anyone who was there that day get in touch? Thanks very much.

Our supporters club (Wessex branch) applied for, and received four tickets, usually we only get half of what we apply for, which is the main reason people just don't bother applying for this game.

See you there, Blues.

Yea blame is once again thrown at Official Supporters Club's but this is misguided blame.
Corporate box owners at City average an allocation of more tickets for away matches than OSC's do.
Box owner = first refusal on 8 tickets.
A supporters club such as ours with near 200 members - we've been allocated 4 tickets. half that of a box.

A large chunk of our members don't even apply through our branch anymore (haha) as they're more or less guaranteed to not qualify.
Many members obtain tickets through their own means - possibly even buying them off corporate entities, even though they will have XXXX amount of points themselves and have been going to games for however long.

Also look into the amount of tickets which go to Friends/Family of players and MCFC Staff.
Before I could afford a ST I was given tickets from mates who once many moons ago played for the Youth Squad, with their families obtaining tickets
and had no interest in going to the matches (lol)

But don't be surprised if you are at the Swamp in the coming weeks and your sat amongst a group of daytrippers who were the highest bidder for tickets purchased from some guy who works for Nissan or Etihad.

The branch.
