United post-match thread

We were very poor, even the side we put out tonight should have been better than that.
I know it's not an important trophy in the scale of things but losing to those c*nts hurts at any time.

I would have thought their was only one conclusion from watching that match,
that the rags are real shit, considering the teams selected.

yeah, but some of the players are simply just not good enough. He is not magician after all. The Bayern squad he left, is clearly notch or two above, so it wasn't going to be perfect as he is not obviously changing his philosophy.

I agree with part of what you say but I think because the manager is called Pep Guardiola he's escaping criticism that he probably deserves. Not many trophies winners go 6 games without a win.

Maffeo and Garcia were great. Nolito too. Navas reasonable. The rest of them were awful. The worst Nacho has ever played.

Another display where we wouldn't have scored given 200 minutes. Toothless and spineless.

Some of the over reactions in this thread are ridiculous. We didn't play well, but it was our reserves against their strongest side (with a ref who was pretty one-sided). We made no real attempt to win the game, which is frustrating, but obviously the competition doesn't matter to the club in the scheme of things. You can't read too much into this result.

Found the Guardian's interpretation of events refreshingly novel:

"Mike Dean could easily have awarded a penalty as the midfielder was unceremoniously bundled off the ball by Fernando, and might have done so but for the ball running free for Mata to find Caballero’s bottom corner."

I jest not.
I wish I had 5 lines of coke like that Guardian journo has had.

Shit leftist rag wouldn'twipe my arse wih it.

Shit 2nd half and obviously if you take into account our game against Southampton where we created almost the same (that is, almost zero :)) chances as tonight, then it looks a bit weak, but considering the whole context... I'm proud of the team. Garcia, for most of the time, hardly looked worse than the world record signing, and while Maffeo was initially beaten a few times, he at least recovered absolutely brilliantly. Not something you can say of Zabaleta, sadly.

Overall, I'm very proud and if anything, seeing this game, this is really not the reason to panic at all.

Anyone pleased with the way we played , could and should have been 2 up at half time , impressed with maffeo and garcia , easy chance for Nacho and a nailed on pen , blatant foul for their goal , anyway feck em the futures bright for this blue
really pleased with he first half....agree we should have been two up at half time with the chances to create where we should have been more clinical in the final pass.....

Thought Fernando and Caballero didn't do much wrong either.

Shows you what we are up against at times.

not one foul but 2 in the build up yet had they managed to feck it up, worry not as a penalty would have been given lol

Forget who we were playing against. My biggest concern is that we have completely forgotten how to create goal scoring opportunities.

But Ric, week after week the players underperform, there's always an excuse. But once again we don't look up for it. And we have no plan B when it comes to changes late on in the game.

Jesus H Christ. I do not believe what I'm reading. This was literally Man City 2nds against Ushited strongest in a thrupeny bit cup and for the most part City outplayed them. I was so so proud of the players and the team regardless of the result. I thought they were superb and how on earth anyone can't see that I'm beside myself. City played brilliant, with a reserve team who'd never played together before, went down 1-0 against the run of play to the rags in their home ground and in the most part with our best players rested. They're celebrating like theyve won the CL against our seconds F FS. Catch a grip of reality here folks and support your fecking manager and team.
Absolutely fuckin spot on! We beat these twats on their own shit hole in prem when it mattered. Not bothered we out of it to be honest just pity against these shit. Get a fuckin grip moaners!

Find it hard to believe that people think our second string outplayed their first XI. It was reasonably even for 45mns, I wouldn't say we were ever truly 'on top' - then after Vince went off our arse went, and after the goal we gave up. THAT is the disappointment - not the result.

Never thought I would see the day (again) when we would just roll over and let that crew beat us because we have "more important" games to play. Pellegrini would have got slaughtered on here if he had selected that team tonight. Someone needs to have a word with Mr Guardiola.
Sadly, I have to agree.
