With all this investment in midfield, has no one told van gimp that they've lost last season's starting centre back pairing, and where is zinedine cleverley gonna fit into this system.

Either way, as I've said in the past, their current situation requires them to 'invest' a lot to get back to where they were, and like any club doing so (Liverpool of recent years, Leeds in the past) it's a roll of the dice whether they get it right.

If it doesn't work out this lot can keep going for a while, but as with many organisations with plenty of buffer, they often comfortably absorb failure while in the background, unnoticed, the vortex of a vicious circle slowly begins to rotate...
A reverse venturi effect, sounds good.

Is that similar to a reverse Clarkie?

To late for City. He is off to Morton.

Think the Vidal rumours to United are a bit giddy. As LoveCity said, if he was available im sure all the top European clubs would be all over him. Ones that can offer high salaries and Champions League football, too.

They have lots of money doesnt really matter for them if they pay 20m for Shaw or 30m. Also if they can get out lot of good years from Shaw as he is really talented 30m wont matter much.

Worst news was van Gaal taking over from Moyes, he is a top class coach compared to the Chosen One.

They need to sign 2-3 players more at least but they will make no mistake about that. Wouldnt be surprised if one of Vidal/Kroos ends up there too. Also 1-2 CB's.

Could be spending around 100-120m just this summer. They needed a big rebuilding after Fergie and they are doing that.

Even if we didnt buy in any players this window, we'd still be ruining football & "buying the league" wouldn't we?

Top post though mate
