It is frustrating the way circumstances always seem to go in their favour... opposition teams best or most in form players unavailable through injury just in time for united playing them, teams around them also dropping points whenever united lose, and as you say, to have negative goal difference and be fifth must be almost unheard of, usually for any team to be playing so poorly that have negative goal difference would mean they're automatically in the bottom half of the table.
 
Making him cpatain after everything that went on was a shambles. To come out and say this after doing it... incredible. They're absolutely f*cked.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag says Cristiano Ronaldo was his fourth choice as captain in the defeat by Aston Villa: "Harry Maguire is on the bench, our captain of the club. Then it is about David de Gea who is a leader but is a goalie and is far away from the outfield. Then Casemiro is the leader but he is not speaking perfect English so then Cristiano is the leader."
