On average our teams was 3 years younger as well and Ten Bob had bust squad back early we still have stones Walker Rodri and foden to come back four of our best players last season
Was thinking that myself, they were nearly full strength save for Home Bargains Haaland and we had arguably our most influential players still absent.

I do still feel though that we need more firepower. Knowing Pep though, it'll probably come from Emerson as an inverted false ninety nine!

Peps played a blinder here. They're all thinking they're competing with us (very similar to how Arsenal got giddy last season) they don't seem to realise they played a city side that was without stones, walker, ake, bernardo, rodri, kdb, grealish and foden for all but a few minutes for a couple of them. That's 8 players who would be making most of our starting 11's.

There's also the pure fact that we're considerably behind in terms of fitness and preparation as we've seen throughout pre-season with the exception of barca who were behind us.

Not only should they be competing, they should be significantly better. The fact they wasn't should be a big concern for the most expensively assembled squad in football. I'm having a chuckle at them trying to convince themselves isn't a positive though. Make it funnier still when fulham pump them in their own backyard.

Personally, I enjoyed the gaslighting from ITV in saying that these lot have improved from last season, and that they've reasons to be positive

Absolutely no mention of the fact that a few of our starting 11 only landed back in Manchester this week from their holidays, and most of the others were young squad players
