The doom-monger scenario would be Aguero and Jovetic injured at the same time AND Yaya at AFCON.

Given their recent injury history it is entirely possible Sergio and Jovetic could be injured at the same time - though hopefully not!

Letting Negredo go with no replacement would represent the weirdest piece of business we have done since Txiki has been here.

Though it is pretty clear Negredo doesn't want to be here.

Why is it pretty clear?

His family being unhappy has been written about over here and in Spain for a couple of months now.

I just think even with that shoulder injury that put him out for a few weeks in January/ February, to go the rest of the season and not score a goal and look half the player he was from the first half of season shows me a man who is not happy in my opinion.

He is going to get news that he isn't going to play in the Champions League this week as well potentially.

A club in our position cannot keep unhappy players, if they want out then let them go because you have to be 100% mentally and physically when playing for us now.

If he wants to go we may as well let him.

I'd be surprised if he puts a full shift in if pissed off. Footballers aren't like us. If we hate our job we just get on with it they in general will moan, not be good behind the scenes etc (Beast maybe not like this)

He's not going to be fit til late Autumn, we've got other options. To be fair a fourth striker wouldn't get much game time anyway especially with our midfield stepping up.

£20M or so. Flog him and look at the position in January in the meantime use Guidetti,an EDS lad or the Nigerian boy if available as a makeweight.

We need to make sure we're cleaner than clean FFP wise this year as UEFA will look at any reason to bum us again.

Take the money.

His poor form at end of last season was put down to injury but he had plenty of time to recover from that.

His form last season was like cheese and chalk

Come on mate- there have been pretty substantial stories of him going all summer- alongside rumours of him and his family being unhappy.

Something is going on. Unless City are entirly unconvinced by him, which I doubt, he hasn't adapted to life here.

Valencia now being linked with Moutinho, who is unsuprisingly looking to move now all the good players are being sold by Monaco. That is a transfer I'd be all over, far more than Falcao. Exactly the sort of player we could use, genuine creative cover in midfield and would allow us to mover Yaya forward without losing the creativity behind. He'd be my replacement for Negredo, if the price was right. Perfect for our way of playing and a lovely little player.

anything actually 'substantial' or just rumours in the press?

Fernando is going to start more games and Fernandinho and Yaya are going to continue playing the important matches as well. Not that outrageous to think we'd keep 3 strikers and use more attacking midfielders if necessary.

We are/were the only team in the world with 4 strikers of that calibre.
That's only because most teams play 1 out and out forward.

We could go with 3 forwards. Its not the worst situation in the world. Arsenal would kill for it

I'd let Negredo go if he wants to go. Squad morale is important, and I feel if he's not happy now, it's only a matter of time before he does go. Better to do a deal now, and then that puts us in a strong position to strengthen in January or next Summer

If ?

He's been injured since the West Ham game , I thought it was only a minor AC but he lost all confidence since the fall.

What's more important is that MP likes him , he wanted him last year.

If you can come up with a replacement for him that we could use and improve on our strike rate then I am all for letting him go if we want him to go.

Jovetic and Kun are always subject to soft tissue injuries.

Dzeko and Negredo are not .

Its pretty simple to me.

Kun and Jovetic don't jell in the starting line up.

As Tolmie correctly said it was the repeat of the jesuss and negredo show ala Hull that was missing on Saturday.

If we had Negredo available or Dzeko in from the start we wouldn't have lost.

I think these rumours about Valencia wanting him are certainly substantial. But whatever. Can't be arsed to debate it. I question whether he is happy here still- something has happened. If you don't fine- not the end of the world.

Bit early to say Kun and Jovetic don't 'jell' together don't you think?
