We signed him for 16m + 4m in addons. I'd guess that winning the league may have added 1m to that (winning the CL was part of the addons and I'd imagine a substantial part)

Selling him for £25m is decent business given he turns 30 next season.

Big risk this season tho.

I'm not sure the price you've quoted is right. We signed him for £16.4m + add ons, not £16m +£4m in add ons. I don't think anyone, aside from those privy to the deal, will know exactly what those add ons were, or how much they were worth.

Fernando is going to start more games and Fernandinho and Yaya are going to continue playing the important matches as well. Not that outrageous to think we'd keep 3 strikers and use more attacking midfielders if necessary.

We are/were the only team in the world with 4 strikers of that calibre.
That's only because most teams play 1 out and out forward.

We could go with 3 forwards. Its not the worst situation in the world. Arsenal would kill for it

I'd let Negredo go if he wants to go. Squad morale is important, and I feel if he's not happy now, it's only a matter of time before he does go. Better to do a deal now, and then that puts us in a strong position to strengthen in January or next Summer

this move has all the hallmarks of an almighty fiasco
Which in turn leads to us all having a disco and signing isco.;-)
That has crossed my mind.

A forward would be ideal but I can't see any that would be available, but it leaves the possibility that we could look at other options. Not sure where that could leave us CL squad-wise though
Was only jesting,I reckon we won't be bringing anyone in even if negredo goes, we would of heard of something if any where going to happen by now IMO,but the reality is if we offload a top line player we should replace, you can't reckon for injuries and such during the season....

Problem is, Negredo does offer something different. He chases the ball down, puts himself about and his movement etc does create chances for others. I think we missed him Saturday. He would have been ideal for Stoke.

Jovetic did not impress me at all on Saturday. He doesn't look the player for those type of physical games. He was as bad against Stoke as he was good against Liverpool.

He and Aguero are also very injury prone.

Dzeko whilst much better than he was, still has his off days.

The money is good but only if we can spend it. It is a risk.

I have always been of the view that you don't weaken the squad.

In my opinion shifting Alvaro without a replacement represents a weakening of the squad, if as it seems we don't replace him. That would be 25 goals from last season walking out the door.

For that reason I hope we don't sell him. I appreciate that there are still a few hours to go in the window and there may be a master plan in the offing, but short of that I would definitely not like to see him depart.

No it's not ideal

Well.. I was up for this signing, but lets take some comforts.

A) If we were interested we've not been held to ransom
B) Hes expensive,
C) Had a major injury
D) Unproven in the PL
E) Getting on a bit

Compared to some on here, I guess I'm an optimist, as I don't have any worries about this at all. I'm actually quite excited at the prospect of Kelechi maybe getting a chance this year (if needed), or for us to play with only one striker, as I think that one striker should be the long term aim of our team. I think we could tear it up with a 5 man midfield, I think it would strengthen us and allow us to dominate the ball and take the pressure off our defence.

My only slight dissapointment with this window is loaning out Lopes and Huws, as I think Lopes's directness could of given us an extra option off the bench that we otherwise lack and that Huws could offer us bit more cover in central midfield, but generally I'm delighted with how this window has gone. We cannot expect our young players to break into the team if we don't even leave cracks for them to emerge through, and this way we have barely spent a penny this summer.

What is this loan deal with a commitment to buy that SSN are talking of. Isn't that the same thing as a permanent deal. If they are obliged to pay then it's a bit of a moot point whether they pay on Day 1 or Day 365. Most deals are done on a instalment basis
