VAR - 2020/21

don't like that the PL are trying to persuade FIFA to allow 'leeway' in tight offsides.

It sounds ok in principle but we all know what it really means: all ours are offside but a rag or scouser 20cm offside will now be given leeway.
I'm surprised that their is no common rules governing VAR.
Every league can make up their own.
You surely shouldn't have a VAR ruling that can be judged differently if you are in a different nt country.
Ie level can't be onside in one league but a gap may be needed in another

So why are linesman’s still flagging for offside ?

You can’t just say the ones they don’t is because they are being asked too. That’s simply not true
Have a look what happens in CL. Player runs through on goal, defence appeal for offside, forward scores then the liner puts his flag up. VAR checks and rules out goal and everyone says liner did well to spot it. In the PL liner puts his flag up, ref blows so whether or not forward scores it can’t count. TV then shows liner wrong to raise flag and everyone just shrugs their shoulders and says oh well. Where there are tight decisions liners have been told to keep flags down but sometimes they don’t but other times they do. Did liner put up flag for Salah yesterday as he was a yard off which isn’t considered a tight decision

I can't speak for every decision, not seen this but by all accounts should have been a pen
ref had to option to go over and take a look, poor reffing. what we are used to without VAR.
Agreed but VAR is there to eradicate clear and obvious errors and it clearly isn’t. To be fair to the ref it would have been hard for him to spot it as it was on his blindside but liner might have helped. Regardless VAR saw it and did nothing to rectify.
Just seen the sending off of the Fulham player for a tackle almost identical to the one on Bernardo at Leeds except without the force. Wonder why VAR didn’t ask the ref to review that challenge but did this one.

Azpiliqueta was in a good position to head the ball ,he would of got to the ball and headed it ,then Mugwire put him in a chokehold
After the uproar last week i presume this VAR official is to be banned as well

The main thing for me is to simplify the rules. As it stands the rules are different depending where on the pitch you are, if you are in your own box, in the centre circle or the opposition box, the laws should be interpreted exactly the same. A foul is a foul if the opponent brings you down or stops you getting to the ball, not if there is 'contact'.

Personally I think they have got the offsides correct. It's simple, you are either on or you're not.

Except it isn't.

A close offside at pace is open to INTERPRETATION. as the frame rate of the technology is not fast enough to be accurate.

Funny how when City are playing we revert back to ....ball to hand ...rules like we used to have , everyone else it touches a hand no matter what , it counts for a pen or goal ruled out. Same with fouls , back to 1970’s rules where anything goes on City players ( Bernado at Leeds) everyone else , slightest touch ...foul . It’s corrupt is the only answer , it’s cost us 4 points already , exactly what it was designed to do ....decide who wins what .
