VAR has not ruined my match going experience. I still celebrate goals the same way I used to

The delays and the lack of transparency is a bit annoying and need improvement, but we're talking 1 or 2 incidents a game for the most part. Perfect excuse for a toilet break

I do not miss the world of refereeing from before VAR

You’re advocating a huge change in the offside law there. And would be revolutionising how teams have to defend.

An attacker with his trailing leg level with a part of the second last defender could be two yards off under today’s laws.

It wouldn’t just be tipping the balance slightly in favour of the attacking team. It would be completely changing the whole game.

Not for me.
Even if it is a massive change in the game I think it'd be worth it. Defenders and tactics would adapt within a season or two - the same as when other fundamental rules were introduced, like no passback to the keeper.

IMO having a few yards advantage for the attacker is good. Defenders can still play attackers offside but it's more difficult which again imo is good.

Anyway it's unlikely to happen ... :-)

There should be large screens in every stadium so fans can view replays etc.
There are only two stadiums in the prem who don’t have them…guess who?

Great example of how backwards and resistant we are as a country when it comes to change, we were slow to adopt var, didn't go with the semi-automated stuff, we were even the last league to hold out against and reject the obviously beneficial idea of allowing 5 subs until other leagues made it abundantly clear how stupid we were. Why would you give up on var now simply because the people operating it are poorly trained and incompetent? Do they not realise the only alternative is to have those exact same incompetent officials have to do the job without the aide of technology to point out how bad they are and give them opportunity to rectify errors?

Moronic from wolves to propose this, I'd naturally dismiss this as having no chance of passing but I honestly wouldn't be surprised at this point to see us go back to the dark ages and spend thr next few years lamenting no var as refs spoil games with poor decisions on a weekly basis whilst the rest of Europe sees var develop and become better.

On top of this, there’s no way that fans wouldn’t go crazy now that every decision can be viewed in 4K.

The bigger issue is that fans of all teams can no longer take decisions that go against their team and have the ability to post raw, emotional reactions on social media.

I’m not particularly arsed about whether we keep it or not. I’m okay accepting most decisions, as long as you can see how they may have been reached.

A lot of fans are black and white on decisions. They’re either 0% or 100% a foul, when in reality most range in the 1-99% area.

The trouble VAR has is deciphering what % clear and obvious is. Is it 80%? Is it 60%?

Most refereeing calls are subjective to some degree. How much that degree is is what creates the controversy and subsequent rhetoric.

I think the most likely way forward is that it’s kept, but monitored how semi-automated offsides change perception.

We shall see.

Crazy how I’ve been called a WUM on the VAR thread for so many years when holding these exact views - good to see many at the least considering the reality of scrapping VAR and going back to how it was.

Well VAR got the penalty decision for the foul on Gordon correct. (Coughs)

What planet are these fuckers living on where that's not a penalty? Absolutely incompetent or corrupt not giving that.

He's just about to shoot, and gets the back of his Achilles stood on. The mind boggles, it really does.

When you look at it though, as soon as he feels contact, he throws both feet up in the air.

It’s a penalty, but he swan dives.
