Remember I don’t watch every single match and know every single incident so can’t always give a view.

Anyhow, You don’t mention the word ‘ref’ who deemed it a foul and awarded the free kick- VAR was never going to overturn the refs decision for that one.
It is frustrating, Keepers get way to much protection from officials and always have done, pointless players even going near a challenge with them for a ball. Would like a change in philosophy on them ones for sure. Too many keepers get let out of jail on a regular basis.
Why shouldn’t VAR overturn a clear and obvious error? Isn’t that what it’s for?

But go and have a look at the Burnley non-penalty- scandalous that wasn’t given. The whole VAR system is shit.

This sounds like an absolutely shit idea.

Basically re-reffing the whole game. VAR has ruined the spontaneity of football which was bad enough but this would kill it off for me altogether. Imagine a 3 minute check to see who’s throw in it is. They should be scaling VAR back not giving them more power. Complete joke.

Wouldn’t mind corners. I’ve noticed a few times lately how many refs get the outcome completely wrong - infuriating when you see the replay and it’s clearly taken a massive deflection.

Nah, football doesn’t need more stoppages.

3% of corners are scored from. They don’t make enough of a difference to delay the game to ensure it was a corner.

The one thing I would add to VAR is for the VAR to be able to look at dives within the game, even if free kicks weren’t given. They can do this in the background whilst the game is on and advise referees to book anybody diving anywhere on the pitch.

I’d say feigning injury too, but that might be too hard to implement.

Book them for diving,I’d give them a red card and within a week or two it would stop ..

I wonder if they are gonna discuss the rugby version of VAR being adopted by football. Visual replays of the 'incident' from several angles and all the verbals between the whistling wanker and the VAR shed - all shown and heard in the ground for the people who watch their football by buying a fuckin' ticket!

Hahahahaha a fantastic idea but unfortunately they won’t be allowed to implement that version of it,I wonder why ?

Seems to me that referees are not well equipped to recognise diving / simulation - perhaps if every penalty / red card were referred to an independent panel, mainly ex players and managers with a three match ban for those considered to be a result of simulation.

It’s probably being absolutely sure that a player has cheated.

Ex-players and managers wouldn’t help. Just look at Soccer Saturday with former players and managers not having a clue about the rules.

This isn’t about the laws as such, rather about whether players are conning the referee.

But compare the Duko yellow card, the penalty award against Lewis in the England game and the challenge by Akanji where the goal was disallowed. Three pretty similar incidents in my view and all where there was a fair degree of play acting by the “injured” party. The current situation encourages diving and generally var would be equally useless at tackling it. Ex players (not the pseudo “celebrity” ex players we see on tv but everyday jobbing professionals) would in my view do a better job (though nothing is perfect). They could have an ex ref to guide them with regard to what the letter of the law is, although the construction of laws contributes to the problem, in my view.

It’s subjectivity. When a fan agrees with a call, they will back it. When they don’t, they want fundamental change.

Having Clinton Morrison, Paul Merson or Neil Warnock determine a VAR decision would be worse than having a referee make a call. Referees know the laws, players and managers don’t.

No system will remove subjective decisions from being controversial.

When there is a contentious decision generally everyone aside from the officials tend to agree, it seems that they see it different than everyone else
