VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

Can’t remember where I saw this but I think I read somewhere that technology is overtaking the UEFA system and the Premier League don’t want to bring in something that will soon have been overtaken by the likes of the one they’re going with.
Jogged my memory it’s to do with the ball and its sensor technology the UCL ball provider Adidas has patterned technology that they won’t share with the Nike the PL ball supplier

I don’t think that would be practical. There’s a lot of leagues around the world using different variations of a VAR system, that don’t have the money or the infrastructure to use the high tech. versions that are used in World Cups, UEFA Comps. Etc.

Fair enough.

All applied globally where the infrastructure and money are available, then. Is there any reason why FIFA, UEFA and the big leagues in Europe, for example, shouldn't use the same guidelines and systems?

I suppose it’s that FIFA oversee the game globally, but they don’t dictate every detail that all competitions should adhere to.

Similar to why all competitions aren’t required to use the same football or pitches must have identical dimensions I suppose.

It's getting ridiculous now. There should be one set of guidelines for interpreting the lotg and the VAR protocol, there should be one VAR system, there should be one SAOT system. All applied globally.

What a mess. It's an absolute farce.
SAOT system?

Possibly. A bit weak, though imho.

The whole sport needs better administrators at every level..

The referee may miss something or even make a genuine mistake, at this point Var can step in and ensure the mistake is rectified.
On the other hand, the referee can see a foul and take the necessary action. Var can review it and decide he has made the correct decision.

Unless it's a decision against the red shite, at this point, some unknown panel will fuck over the referee and Var and tell the world they were incompetent.

But only when it's the red shite

I don't understand the appeal. How many time does an incident need looking at ?

1st Ref said red card
2nd VAR said red card
3rd AP no red card.

How can both the on field ref and VAR get it wrong ?

Surly this outcome would mean severe action against the on field ref and VAR. They both have fucked up and could of effected the outcome of the game.

Obviously I'm being sarcastic ! We know why it was over turned.

How much longer can football carry on with this clear cheating in favour of rags ?

Two football lunge/stamp should have been a red card, above the ball tackle red card than AP reduce it to yellow. 75million quid deal to avoid ffp, it stinks
