First you are saying in every comment that he should not get the job where he can prove himself to City's level. Then you are saying he hasn't proven himself to City's level (when nobody had suggested otherwise). It seems you want to have your cake and eat it. He can either "do it the right way" or not, but he needs the opportunities to be open in order to do that.
Thus far, that's exactly what he is doing - he is not at the top yet, still on a journey. Bayern is part of that journey, finding themselves in the postition that they are currently in.
He has not walked straight into the Man City job, a la Pep walking straight into the Barca job, or Zidane walking straight into the Real job.
Instead, he is working his way up by showing he can improve players and squads at various levels of the game, showing that he can rebuild squads at different levels of the game, showing that he can implement his style at different levels of the game, showing that he can teach players, as well as motivate them.
Then each time after demonstrating these things, moving on to another level to demonstrate it there. It seems he is doing exactly what you want him to do... he is doing it what you consider to be "the right way"... except you've been saying the people allowing him to do that shouldn't allow him to do that... if that was the case, then there would be no way of doing what you seem to expect coaches to do.
That's what I mean by moving the goalposts, you've changed the very definition of what you're criticising, into something that hasn't even happened. He is not the manager of Manchester City F.C.
