Wasting money on expensive items

But so can a car and a house. Looking at recent crime stats, just walking along a street makes you a target for robbery. Students for their bank cards or a teenager for his phone. A watch doesn't make you more vulnerable.
Absolutely, but cars and houses have other uses. Watches became “obsolete” when everyone got a phone with the time on the home screen.

I've got no money to spend but if I did I would buy a couple of AA batteries for the smoke detector, a can of ant killing spray, a tube of white, outdoor silicone and some unleaded for the lawn mower

Do you believe that a person can do what ever he likes with his money ? (As long as it is legal and doesn't hurt other people. )

Absolutely.

I also don’t think that they should be robbed because they have an expensive watch.

They are more likely to be (if they ever actually wear it) though.

My Uncle was a wonderful man who built a business from nothing with his kids over 25 years. His passion was watches.

When he died his kids found about 20 watches he had bought over his life - all with documentation. Everyone of them had gone up in value. They inherited about 6 Rolex's each, some to his grandson. Me and my brother got a watch (not Rolex's) each that at the time were £1k, now about £2.5k.

Time is valuable
