Watford (H) Post Match Thread

MOTD boys didn’t miss a heart beat - offside was the cry, no debate.

It’s a shambles of a rule, they’ve made it so much more complicated.

I don’t think Raz makes a kick at the ball until he sees Jamaat slide in, he kind of does a wee skip. I can see why the ref gave it, and was delighted he did.
Apparently PGMOL took 20 minutes to decide it should have been given offside So the rules conflict.

The TV lackeys got their wish. Argument over an offside goal when we won the game deservedly against an ultra-negative outfit.

Not sure what people are moaning about, it was a highly contentious decision in an otherwise fairly dull game and it happened to be the first crucial goal in a game where Watford looked very comfortable first half and the game changes entirely once we've made the breakthrough, of course they are going to talk about it. As much as its benefitted us, it appears the ref got wrong, but whether it's right or wrong by the laws of the game 99% of people agree that the laws need to be clear so thatthis kind of decision is in no doubt at all about it being offside in the future.

To be fair to the NBCSN commentary team who are among the best out there (and Lee Dixon loves City) I have heard them do this quite a few times before. I don’t think itsagenda or bias, it’s simply that the commentary team could not understand how the goal was given. They were not alone. It was hard for me to understand it as well.
I know they sent the email, but I was surprised they got a response. I was particularly surprised they got a response that didn't unquestioningly back up the referee's decision.

And yeah, the NBC commentary team are by far the best in the world. Arlo White and Lee Dixon are always entertaining. The fact that he's a City fan doesn't hurt, of course.

Mistake by the defender. He should have let Sterling go. The ref decided that Sterling didn't impact the defender's action. Every other part of the offside law puts Sterling offside but not infringing. If he lets him take the shot on he's offside and infringing. No goal if he scores. The only way Sterling scores from that action is if the defender plays it against him and the ref decides Sterling did not affect what the defender did. Which is what happened. Players get paid a lot of money not to make wrong decisions. Unlucky for him, lucky for us but next time let the forward shoot, son.

It was a bad call, there are no two ways about it. As much as the idea of VAR being introduced in PL feels good, it feels as if it the league isnt ready for it. To much inconsistentsy. They should give the refs proper training during the summer break or there will be many controversial incidents.

Good win, glad to see Mahrez doing well and Sterling scoring a hatrick. It feels we are not appreciated enough for having the ability to produce results in face of park buses every week. It must be mentally tough and exhausting.

Liverpool relinquished their lead when teams started to sit back. 8 more to go, comeon city.

City fan ? He said the other week he wants Liverpool to win the the league for “ the good of football”. He’s a grade a arselicker.

It must be really difficult for the BBC reporters to have to see us winning and try and give a positive reflection on the game.
Cnuts.
‘For the third successive game, they faced a side hell-bent on stopping them scoring rather than showing any ambition themselves, but City kept at their task and eventually made the breakthrough.’
