What trouble did you have last night?

I've found it quite amusing reading all the stuff about the "battles" going on at Tuesday's game.

Wasn't it just over a week ago that someone posted about our game at Leeds in 1977, and how bad that was?

I don't want to pull the "old man knows better" routine, but Tuesday really was nothing.

For old-skoolers like a few of us on here, that was how it was every week in the 70's and 80's.

You get used to it. You get savvy. I think too many on here exctolling the horror of it all must be young and have little comprehension of what real football violence is like.

I'll be at Old Trafford next Wednesday, just like I have been going back to Denis Law's backheel... now that was a frightening day!

Just keep your wits about you, and you'll have little problem at the swamp. Unless you're going looking for it!

At last a proper perspective, by the way some people are going on it was like a war zone, and that United just ran around like they owned the gaff.
I'm no member of any "City Firm", i've known a few of them over the years, and have been involved just by the sheer nature of football in the 80's. As disappointing as Tuesday was for many innocent people, it really was pathetic. I was right in that fence incident, i saw lots of women and people rushing towards me, so i ran to the fence, as soon as they had kicked it over, they literally stopped still, as myself and a dozen others stood there. I was truly amazed at what i saw, it really would have put their Hooligan forfathers to shame, 15 City fans stand their ground and these shit bags melt. It was hardly a warzone, just a minor flashpoint that the police could have avoided. It was always going to happen, but please can people get some perspective. As for the away leg, we'll be kept in, and will probably have to face some missiles, but really it will amount to fuck all.

Amen to that...

There were always scraps with K stand in the 80s during the game....and then there outside.. boy I forgot how risky those days were.

To be brutally honest mate, in the 70's and 80's literally every game, home or away, you saw trouble.

At City, in the past six years, I've seen it about a handful of times. And none of it particularly serious.

At the away games nowadays, I'm more worried about getting battered by fellow City fans than the opposition's fans!

A lot on here need to get some perspective. Need to stop writing scare stories about going to OT next week. What you saw last Tuesday, I've seen worse outside Rotters in the 70's!

Only time I seriously thought I wasn't going to get out of a game alive. And that includes games at Leeds.

Kids of today don't know they're born....

Ha! Ha!

I didn't want to say that, so I'm glad you did!

to be honest its pretty simple.

United were the away team on tuesday and therefore makes it much easier for them to form as a group/firm because they are all together were as city were spread out. So they get about 150-200 of them and take on city because they know that all our main boys would not be together. Also with it being the cup they get more tickets so the main idiots that usually cant get tickets can get them and with it being night time they thought it would be easier to get away if the police saw them.

In my opinion i expect city to take on united next week and trash most things in sight pubs cars people etc... i think that because we will be together city will fancy there chances and like i said the away team always has the advantage because they are grouped together and when you form that quickly and its not organised it is simply impossible to defend.
