Whats the poshest Hotel you've stayed in

Fair enough. I don’t really prescribe to the hoteliday, either. I suppose I just have had bad experiences with some of the “value” stay establishments that have taken the shine off holidays, so tried to avoid them when I could.
Me too, I’ve paid my dues on those places but don’t regret any of them. Being a young person with the desire for travel and adventure outweighs everything

Four seasons Marrakech

Kwandwe private game reserve, Western Cape, SA

Constance Belle Mare, Maritius

Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel, Iguassu Falls

Fairmont, Rio De Janeiro

The Wynn, Vegas

Sofitel Barú, Cartagena, Columbia (Here as I type)

Ikos Dassia, Corfu

Grosvenor house, Dubai Marina

St Regis, Abu Dhabi

I am lucky to travel a lot and the above come to mind off the top of my head as all being excellent. Loads of others I’ve stayed at around the world worthy of a mention to be fair !

Not hotel related but two of our engineers did a few drinks in the bottoms up club on Kowloon as you do however being very naive they decided to get a round in each on their company credit card at a time when slide imprint machines were still a thing

Roll on three weeks later and the bills drop at HQ for about a grand each! True school boy error stuff.
Haha, only ever went in there when I was with a friend who was a Superintendent in the HK Police; so everything was complimentary ;-)

i don't stoop to hotels and sharing with 'others'. Butlered chateaus or the whole thing's off.

Are those Ikos resorts worth the money? They look great but not cheap.

Me and Mrs. Biggie stayed in the Bellagio in Las Vegas for my 50th 15 years ago and our room was overlooking the fountains.
Best hotel I've ever stayed in.

Best ones i've stayed in are Omni in downtown Los Angeles and Kimpton Hotel Rouge in Washington DC and would have said Sheraton on the Falls at Niagara until last year when I spent the same time waiting for the lift as I would have done queueing for a ride at Disney, but one I really want to stay at is Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada the views just look amazing

Probably Hotel Cap Rocat in Majorca. It’s an old fort overlooking the bay of Palma with the rooms, service, restaurants and grounds all incredible.
It’s secluded and quiet but only a 20 minute taxi ride to Palma old town If you drag yourself away from the hotel.

I'm not sure about poshest.

But I'm certain of the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

My father had just passed away and I needed to travel from my home in Washington State to central California. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a hotel for the night. And numerous hotels were booked up. Online I found a hotel in San Jose for $100.00 US per night - a fuckng rip off in 2009, but it was the least expensive I could find.

After driving all day from my home, I arrive late at night at the motel. I couldn't find anywhere to park - not because the parking lot is full - but because there's no parking lot - there's literally nowhere to park. I circle around the motel at 1:00 AM and finally find somewhere to park in the street. I walk a few blocks to the so-called motel carrying my luggage - there's a pungent smell of urine emanating from the building along an unlit wall.

I walk to the reception desk - no one is there. Someone finally arrives after I ting the bell on the desk several times.

He looks up my reservation on his computer and gives me the key to a room 2 floors up. I walk up to my room - and it's the literal size of a fucking closet. There's a sink and a bed that's currently folded into the wall, nothing else at all.

I unfold the bed from the wall, exhausted from my long drive and try to go to sleep. Plastered on the sides of my room are little placards, apparently mandated by California law, warning that asbestos causes cancer and that asbestos insulation is present just behind the walls of my room. Fucking great!

Come morning I wake - I want a shower - and to get as far away from this hell-hole as possible. There's no individual bathroom in this hotel - but instead, a common shower/bathroom area. As well as a shower, I need to relieve myself.

But... every single toilet in the common bathroom - without exception, is brim full of toilet paper and shit. There's no way to flush the toilets - and there's no way I'm sitting down in any of these stalls.

I make my way back to my hotel room, unzip my pants, pee in the sink in my room, and then proceed to my car, whereupon I drive as fast and as far away from hotel hell as I can.
