As a kid i grew up in Blackley Village (great place),then was "relocated" to Cheetham Hill.In the early 80s lived just off Hollinwood Ave,New Moston?,thought it was a wonderful area after the Hill.

New Moston is a nice place. I used to live on Anfield Road.

New Moston, from The Broadway upwards, (going towards Moston lane East down Nuthurst Rd), is a nice area and not just saying that because I live there. God i've had some scrapes right in the middle of it, so it has its nob heads too, (me included once upon a time!). Moston Lane though, well it was always rough as growing up as a kid in the late 80's early 90's, but now its been taken over by the Somalians moving across from Claremont Rd. All the pubs have shut, and i'm talking old school pubs like the Ben Brierley, and the place is all but unrecognisable. People don't appreciate the difference between the two areas but if you took a drive from Asda Harpurhey up along Moston Lane, did a right onto Nuthurts Road and then drove all the way past the Miners estate, over the Broadway junction onto Nuthurst park way, people would see the difference between the two.foxy said:Pigeonho said:Moston is different to New Moston, largely because it has a 'high street'. Yeah New Moston is nice, I have a good mate that lives there and I have stayed there a few times and seemed a chilled out place. I am refering to in and around the Moston lane area. It's pretty hard to justify Moston as a nice area when my brother had so much bad luck with the place.
Ah the Miners estate! It was always a war between who was the hardest, the Mill estate or the Miners estate. If you were from neither, as I was, it was always deemed madness to go anywhere near the miners estate. Looking back though that was just all bollocks and a complete myth. Anywhere can have a council estate plonked in the middle of it though. Are kid lives in leafy Parkstone, (Poole), and you would look at it and think you were a million miles away from the nearest council estate... WRONG! Come out of are kids street and drive up the road for literally 2 minutes, and there's a rough as houses council estate just there, which looks so much out of place its untrue.Scottyboi said:New Moston still has the miners estate though.
