When did it all start to go wrong?

None at all. Which is why I'll never bring him up or pander for the days of him being here.
I'll defend him when I think he needs defending though.

And you think you need to defend him now? from what?
Read Prestwich Blue's post where he put him in the same bracket as Hitler.

Grow up,he simply uses an analogy, you're seeking outrage where there is none..

Wasn't there a thread on this a couple of weeks ago!

I'll say it again, birthday cake gate in the summer

Toure should have been fucked off immediately and instead of spending on Mangala and Fernando, we should have pushed the boat out out for a top quality replacement for Toure

27 Sep 2011 Bayern Munich 2-0 City.

Mancini exploded took down Tevez, and the beginning of gulf between manager and players began.

It was a shit analogy. I'll save my outrage for what's happening on the pitch at the moment.
Funny telling me to grow up when your contribution has been solely to tell others that their sycophants and fan boys.
Self awareness not your biggest trait I take it.

It hasn't really "all" gone wrong though has it ? Twice champions, once runners up, FA Cup and League Cup winners and FA Cup finalists in the last 4 years.

If we're talking about this season since the turn of the year, in my view, what we're seeing is the inevitable result of FFP. After we won the league for the first time we were hamstrung in who we could sign without having had time to establish an infrastructure to identify young and cheaper talent. We were held to ransom over transfer fees as everyone knew we a) had to buy and quick, b) had to buy English and c) appeared to have pots of money. That's how we ended up with Rodwell and Sinclair, not through any ill-will towards Mancini.

Since then, it has been a matter of trying to balance the squad whilst being out of the market for the top players but held to ransom for the middling players. Fernando and Mangala may come good but 5 or 6 teams seriously challenging for the top 4 is unusual and there is no time for them to acclimatize.

At the same time, the relentless negative publicity and UEFA's implication that we have, somehow, cheated has permeated through to the club. Imagine being a Spanish player coming to England and getting zero credit for winning the league, simply an unprecedented financial penalty and restrictions on transfer fees, wages, sponsorship deals. And don't tell me that this doesn't affect the players, Vinnie commented on FFP only this week. They know it has been put in place to stop us. It won't, but, in my view it will have to be a longer term project and that will be a lot healthier than doing what we had to do.

We may fall out of the Champions League this season but that does not have the finality some people like to torment themselves with.
Very well said, WA.

for me it was the slow dismantling of a strong spine, of the team players like tevez, Barry and to some extent DeJong/lescott/kolo we shipped out and all for various acceptable reasons, but they were replaced by players both not as good and it seems not as committed(and know tev wasn't but he gave 100% if played).

This can be atributed to FFP, poor recruitment judgement, bad management, but it's basically the squad of 11/12 had a stronger and would say more passionate about the cause spine than now, that's not to say we don't have a good squad now as we have won the league last year, but as stats show our defense was about the same last year, but we were much more dangerous in attack and with that lacking this year we have suffered.

Peller does need to be taken to task over his constant tinkering in defense this season, and tixi over his recruitment, but the players need to show more fight when the team are under pressure and take resposibility, it's like some came to get us to the top and now we are there job done, sit back and relax, when this started we bought player hungry to make us a success for their and the clubs reasons.

I still have faith some will come good given time and a consistent run in the team (fernando and mangala in particular may shine next year if played repeatedly rather that being in then out every other week), I don't see it as a crisis , it's taken Chelsea 5 years to regain the title and arsenal have just won their first trophy for 8 years, the rags are 2 seasons potless, the league is a lot stronger than 5 years ago, we just need to go for the best, promote those that look promising in the youth team and not panic, Pellers needs to pick a team, stick to it for the remaing games, secure top 4 and then the club just needs to decide what it's doing personell wise, we've regressed this season, but not enough that we can't recover and resume the clubs targets

I'll second that emotion.

City 0-1 Stoke

Showed all of City's problems to come yet nothing was done. To lose a home game that early on in the season, and as champions, to Stoke City - speaks for itself, really.

The Arsenal-Bayern-Chelsea fixture list after that break showed how the season was gonna go IMO.
