Who has had the best window?

Some people are vastly underrating fellani. He is not the most technicaly gifted of players but he will add to their midfield much needed grit which is something they have been missing for a few seasons

They are, still the team to.beat and fellani has just made them stronger

Agreed, they had just one weakness and Fellaini corrects that.

Could have done much better but the window hasn't been a total disaster for them.

Ha ha, go for it.

Interesting. This is a very similar formation to what the 7-year-old girls I co-coach play.

My daughter plays in the Navas role, except she just stands in one place and jumps up and down, screaming for the ball. Never fear, we Yanks are a loooooong way from catching up with most other nations tactically.

Incidentally, my co-coach is Czech and from Plzen. His daughter was wearing her VP kit at school the day after the draw. I made mine wear her City kit today as a response.

Let me prephase this by stating that these ratings are based on past attributes of players gained players lost and overall cost.
City

IN: Jesus Navas, Fernandinho, Alvaro Negredo, Stevan Jovetic, Martin Demichelis
OUT: Kolo Toure, Roque Santa Cruz, Wayne Bridge, Carlos Tevez, Maicon, Jeremy Helan, Karim Rekik (loan), Scott Sinclair (loan), Denis Suarez, Abdul Razak (loan), Gareth Barry (loan).

Spent: £86.8m

First XI: Hart; Zabaleta, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy; Yaya Toure, Fernandinho; Navas, Silva, Aguero; Negredo.
7 of 10: Not too impressed with the money spent on Dihno, and very happy with the addition of Demichelis. Lost a starter and talisman in Tevez, and replaced him with perhaps a likely equal in Negredo. Failed to move Kolarov and improve on that side of defense. However the addition of Navas and Jovetic on the wings might prove magical

United

IN: Wilfried Zaha, Guillermo Varela, Marouane Fellaini
OUT: Paul Scholes (retired), Mats Dahli, Angelo Henriquez (loan), Nick Powell (loan)

Spent: £45m

First XI: de Gea; Rafael, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra; Fellaini, Carrick, Young, Valencia; Rooney, Van Persie.
5/10: Their inability to get any of their original targets for most of the window, made them the laughing stock of the transfer window- And overpaying last minute for someone they could have gotten for less earlier on smacks of poor business. But in terms of fit, they got a perfect one in Felliani. And I would have taken him over Dihno for 23 million. Great addition, poor window, with all the issues.

Chelsea

IN: Andre Schurrle, Marko Van Ginkel, Mark Schwarzer, Cristian Cuevas, Samuel Eto'o, Willian, Christian Atsu
OUT: Oriol Romeu (loan), Jefferey Bruma, Thibaut Courtois (loan), Marko Marin (loan), Yossi Benayoun, Paulo Ferreira (retired), Henrique Hilario (retired), Florent Malouda, Ross Turnbull, Wallace (loan), Christian Atsu (loan), Romelu Lukaku (loan), Victor Moses (loan)

Spent: £66.5m

First XI: Cech; Ivanovic, Terry, Luiz, Cole; Ramires, Lampard; Hazard, Oscar, Mata; Eto'o.
6/10: They shopped a lot. But it seemed a bit haphazard to me. Good backup purchase at goalie, most of the other buys seemed like buying just to buy. (Shurle was wierd, especially in light of De Bruyne's return (I think De Bruyne is the better player) Ginkel seems a future rather than a present need (with Mikel, Lampard, Ramirez and Essien already on the books). This rating will drop to 4/10 if Mata is frozen out of the squad.

Arsenal

IN: Yaya Sanogo, Mathieu Flamini, Emilliano Viviano (loan), Mesut Ozil
OUT: Andrei Arshavin, Vito Mannone, Denilson, Sanchez Watt, Sebastian Squillaci, Johan Djourou (loan), Andre Santos, Gervinho, Marouane Chamakh

Spent: £42.5m

First XI: Viviano; Sagna, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Gibbs; Wilshere, Arteta; Ozil, Cazorla, Walcott; Giroud.
6/10: Most will disagree, but this was a very good window for them. Ozil, was the best player purchased this window. for a team who plays with 5 midfielders they are now stacked with: Ozil, Wilshere, Carzola, Arteta, Ox, Rosisky, Walcott, Flamini, Ramsey, They have options for days. Injury is still an issue. Especially with Ox, Podolski, Arteta, Diaby, Wilshere, Vermaelen, all down. But they have a deep squad now. A very deep one.

Liverpool

IN: Kolo Toure, Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto, Simon Mignolet, Aly Cissokho (loan), Tiago Ilori, Mamadou Sakho, Victor Moses (loan)
OUT: Andy Carroll, Peter Gulasci, Jonjo Shelvey, Danny Wilson, Jamie Carragher (retired), Suso (loan), Jack Robinson (loan), Jay Spearing, Stuart Downing, Pepe Reina (loan), Omar Assaidi (loan), Dani Pacheco, Fabio Borini (loan)

Spent: £44.8m

First XI: Mignolet; Johnson, Sakho, Agger, Cissokho; Lucas, Gerrard, Coutinho, Moses; Sturridge, Suarez.
8/10 Best transfer window: Added exceptionally well. And held on to their best player. Mignolet, Sahko and Moses bolster their starting 11, and Toure, Cissohko, Aspas, and Alberto will improve their bench competition. But most importantly, they held on to Suarez.

Spurs:

IN: Paulinho, Nacer Chadli, Roberto Soldado, Etienne Capoue, Vlad Chiriches, Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen
OUT: David Bentley, John Bostock, William Gallas, Bongani Khumalo (loan), Steven Caulker, Clint Dempsey, Scott Parker, Gareth Bale, Benoit Assou-Ekotto (loan), Tom Carroll (loan)

Spent: £109m

First XI: Lloris; Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Rose; Paulinho, Dembele; Lamela, Eriksen, Lennon; Soldado.
7.0/10 Best individual haul of players. They improved the team across the board. However they also lost the best player in this window. Losing Bale is huge. However their haul should make up for it. But it is still a huge loss. I'd have given them a 9 had they kept Bale. He was huge for them, so the additions have a big shoe to fill. But I think they will.

So, who would you say has done the best out of this transfer window out of the top 6?

Best starting additions: Spurs (The front 4: Chadli, Lamela, Ericksen, Soldado. )
Best player added: Arsenal (Ozil)
Most improved squad after transfers: Liverpool (Kept Suarez and upgraded CD, GK and Winger and back up CD and LB)
Best player fit: United (Felliani: He is a perfect fit for a bully team)

If you are going on overall improvement, then...

1. Liverpool
2. Spurs
3. Us

In reality so far
1. Liverpool
1. Us
3. Arsenal (could be a false dawn though)
4. Spurs

Lol pretty much this XD.

An assessment of our new signings according to consensus on BM so far:

Fenandinho - Overpriced, often compared to Gelson but still an upgrade on Barry 6/10
Navas - just what we needed but jury is out on his actual assist rate 7/10
Negredo - the Beast is fast becoming a fan's favourite 9/10
Jovetic - expectations remain huge but dampened by 'made of glass' fear 8/10
Demichelis - viewed as somewhere between Maicon and Van Buyten 6/10

Overall - 7/10

I think that figure will only rise as Demichelis demonstrates how to marshall a high line defence, Fernandinho struts his stuff in the CL and Jovetic finally makes his debut.

Unfortunately I agree. We underestimated the difference VP would make to them last season and IMO we are underestimating Fellani's impact as well. He's the one player that would have made us much stronger in the PL.
All of the top 6 have strengthened , some more than others but I feel that like Arsenal we haven't strengthened in the areas we were weakest. Another big spend in a transfer window but IMO yet another opportunity lost.
We really need ALL our established star players to deliver this season because not one did last season. That will make a bigger difference to the outcome of the season than any new recruits.
