He barely played last season.

Mostly that he was very highly rated when he came here, and that the club paid 12mil(?) for him. I do see that he didn't get much gametime at Girona though (15 games, not sure how many of these were sub appearances). I don't think he qualifies for a work permit, as someone else already pointed out to me, anyway.
I would shill for Lee Jaesung again, like I normally do, since I watch the K-League quite regularly and he was pretty solid at the WC too but his work permit is pretty much impossible aswell.

Gundogan can fill in at DM if need be. Xabi used to do it for Pep and Gundo is no less mobile and no worse at tackling. Xabi has done some absolute hatchet jobs over the years, being a top quality tackler is not the highest priority for a pep number 6.

That being said, I would like to see us sign another midfielder, whether it be a long term option like Wiegl/Kovacic or a shorter-term elite player like Rakitic or Vidal to help us make a tilt at the champs league while also retaining the league.

I'm interested to see how we use Riyad actually. Will he mainly play on the right and be competition for Sterling with Bernardo spending more time in the middle?

Anyone else think Stones could be transformed to a DM, and we buy Maguire? Stones is brilliant on the ball, good passer, he`s intelligent, has decent pace and is a great tackler. His only shortcoming IMO, is his marking and concentration at times, and I don`t think that would be exposed to an equal extent, as if he was playing CB

Not really. He's passing and confidence in the ball is decent from the CB position, it wouldn't be adequate If he moved up.
