whoever scouted Boateng

I said the very same thing when Zabableta first came to us, and Yoonited said the same about Evra when he first joined Yoonited, him time to improve along with Kolarov they'll prove to be very good Full backs.

Who can forget Evra's first Derby!

Boateng has been a major disappointment so far but I think he is more capable than he has looked for us. However, his lack of aggession is a big worry because that I'd say is more in the genes. He can toughen up though if he puts his mind to it and good coaching should improve him. Whether he will make the grade at City remains to be seen.

I have been of the opinion for sometime that we need to go out and buy a world class right back because Zab, bless him, isn't one and Micah, who is currently our best right back (IMO), and Boateng are centre backs (be they good bad or indifferent) masquerading as full backs.

Fortunately for us then, you are nowhere near Carrington.

I'll stick with happy Bob and uncle Brian to improve further Jerome's silky smooth skills. It's a shame you can't see it. Chin up lad.

My chin's up, Ken. A substandard display by our reserves on a quagmire is no major problem.

Silky smooth....world class...Doctor Dave diagnoses mild delusion, Ken, and prescribes a significant reduction in your own brew...

Your chin is up and you cannot assess a player. oh dear.
And Dave, sit down, your not a doctor, whatever it is you think is knocking about, its clearly in your brew.

I've just had to rub my eyes because it was definitely there 5 minutes ago. Tolmie, if you are about, can you tell me I'm not going mad?

No question he’s struggled so far but I wouldn’t rush to judgment just yet.

There’s maybe a bit of a hangover from playing a full Bundesliga season then going straight into a world cup campaign, which was brand new territory for him and probably quite emotionally draining. Then of course he picked up his injury which meant he didn’t get a proper pre season and was playing catch up with rest of the squad, which was then followed by a further injury so it’s been very stop start for him thus far. When you then add in adapting to a new country/ lifestyle, teammates, training methods, pace of game, expectation level etc, it’s not unreasonable to consider that he may suffer a dip in form and confidence as he adapts to it all. He showed in the World Cup though that he’s versatile and significantly he can deliver a good cross as an overlapping full back, which I think with the addition of Dzeko (and to a degree Balotelli) is something Mancini will see as integral to the teams approach.

We’re in a fortunate position that we can afford to allow him, and to some extent Kolarov, a settling in period. I feel if we give them time and stick with them they’ll both come good.

How many times have we been down this road FFS. Player comes in and fails to set the world on fire in his first three games so he's clearly shit and a waste of money.

We've had this with The Goat, Bosvelt, Kompany, Zab, De Jong, Barry, both Toure's, Lescott and now Boateng, Milner & Kolarov.

Players need time to settle into a new side and a new pattern of playing and managers need time to get them playing the way they want as part of the squad. Some are used to a slower, less physical game whereas others play in a position or style they're not as familiar with. But to get familiar with your team-mates, the league and the system needs games so they might not be seen at their best initially.

Far too rational for some that PB, what would blues do without a rant, a rave and a dramatic 'leaving of the board'?

This OP is a far cry from the 'he looks fooking amazing' thread after he set up a goal in the Valencia pre season game. Give the lad some time, you dont get to be a German international by being shit FFS.
