Why didn't you go to the Leipzig game?

Please don't take this question the wrong way but are we competing against them and if so why are we competing against them?
I've 'suffered' the insults, the alleged banter and to be quite honest I don't give a running jump what they say or how they react. I go to watch my team Manchester City so let them go watch their rubbish team! The only time I'd care is if one of them told me I couldn't watch City!! Then I'd start and boy would I start!! ;-)
We’re competing against everyone for support as the owners want us to be as big as possible. I guess my real point is that there are two clubs in Mcr and Rags are defined as biggest on the planet so we are competing against them for the new generation of support. Mentioned Liverpool as pundits use them as a reference, there local competitor is Everton. Personally I don’t care we are what we are.

The rags have moved to Manchester ?

The best thing Kevin Parker could have done is not gotten involved at all, or at the very least straight batted the question by saying he didn't have a problem with what Pep said - even if he did.

Kevin Parker, as head of a supporters group, should be well aware of the context of the remarks made by Pep and how they were likely to have been taken up by the media. By responding in the manner he has, he's poured fuel on to flame.

At least he has a sense of humour our Kev.

It’s not the first time peps questioned our loyalty he can try and choose his words how ever he likes but he gets Very well paid to manage the team, some people have a tight budget to feed/ clothe their families some people have been really hit hard this last 18 months he is very fortunate he doesn’t have to worry about the odd £50 here and there
he needs to live in the real world for once

Didn't go because quite frankly I'm pissed off. Cannot park, cannot speak with anyone to fix issues, constantly on hold for hours, never get a response to e-mails, chasing rules and impositions at the last minute, and piss poor communication for everything they attempt to do. Can't be arsed with the faff around mobile ticketing. Even in the stadium you get bent over dry-fucked for a bottle of water.

Can't believe I'd ever come to the point of considering this - it seemed almost impossible a year ago - but me and the lad are now on the verge of cancelling the £2000 worth of direct debits for the season tickets.

It's not the team, its not Pep or the experience of watching City play. We love it and always have.

However it feels more and more like we are trying to support our team DESPITE the best efforts of the corporate clusterfuck being imposed on us, and it's grinding us down. We've gone from attending every game in all Tournaments with high enthusiasm to feeling rather disenfranchised and undervalued.

Just as an example I've spent 4 hours on hold today trying to resolve an issue that should never have been a problem. I'm still only 62 in the queue and have been for the duration of typing this response.

We will always support City but match attendance is now harder than ever, cannot transfer to friends without a load of hassle. cannot move seats easily, cannot buy tickets for friends to accompany us without hassle. Cannot park easily in our usual carpark. It's a complete clusterfuck and has represented a significant deterioration in our match day experience.

It's not one single thing that's pissed us off, but a succession of screw-ups, and a complete lack of respect for the fans over the years. Feels like as fan we are completely undervalued by the corporate fuckery that stands between us and our team.

Maybe after I have had a bit of kip and some time to think I might change my mind, but right now I'm pissed off.

So yeah - I get it. We want to be there but until they sort out the monumental clustefuck they are creating by screwing with our matchday experience, we won't be bothering.
Some really good points there, maybe we should somehow let Kevin Parker bring this up in his next interview or some similar chances like that... but hold one, will it let the whole world know and fuel another fire? I've no idea, but they are just what really happens, aren't they? So maybe just say it anyway and hope that some thick skins can listen to it and bring a better outcome ultimately, I guess...

I stopped going to the Champions League games a number of years ago, personally everything they do from covering up non-approved ads to their taking over the broadcasting experience in the ground pisses me off. To their anti-racism clips, when you know that UEFA hand out laughable fines if people actually are.... Honestly if the club didn't charge me I still wouldn't attend.

Jesus, storm in a teacup or what. Would be absolutely ridiculous if this caused a rift between pep and the fans, I think it has been taken out of context a bit what he's meaning. He just wants more people there than Wednesday night not necessarily filling the stadium, but not seeing big gaps dotted around the stadium. He knows it will be totally different tomorrow anyway, so he really shouldn't have mentioned it at all, but it's not worth getting et up about

I don't know Kevin Parker from Adam, nobody speaks for me as a Blue.

However, I find it incredibly uncomfortable that he's being made the patsy by both Sky and Pep.

He's the head of a supporters group and was asked for comment in light of what Pep said, he's responded to the only words the manager used.

If Pep doesn't want his words to be misconstrued, then take ownership at the time, rather than providing cheap soundbites for people who have not a good word to say about us as a club.

The thing is it was obvious that Pep wasn't having a go at our supporters.

If Pep or anyone else in the spotlight went about their business choosing every word so it couldn't be misconstrued, it would be a dull old world and people would still find things to spin in ways that belie the original intention.

Kevin Parker spoke out of turn, far more so than Pep, who didn't in my opinion.

not on the cup schemes as i had to give them up once id lost my job a few years back( got it back now) but finances are still a little tight to justify to expense of the cup games for now

You might do. So might others. But for me the manager crossed a line criticising supporters.

People have had to suffer and have suffered real financial hardship over the last eighteen months. Our manager earns a ridiculous amount of money, and him giving it out is both disrespectful to people who can't make the extra financial sacrifice and also those who have paid for tickets.

Our support ever since he's joined the club has been exceptional. He's had some great atmospheres and despite the ambivalence from some towards the CL, it's produced our best atmospheres. Add to that away fans packing every away end, and even selling out less glamorous ties such as Rotherham etc.

Like I say, everyone is different, but I won't accept a bloke earning £18m a year giving it out to supporters. It's piss poor and if the club had any backbone then the men at the top would be telling him to shut the fuck up.

I personally couldn't give a shit about the media or rival fans, I just despise our fans being dragged by our own manager.

People trot out the stuff you've come out regularly whenever Pep mentions the crowd and it's misguided to be polite.

Pep has subsequently made it quite clear he was not criticising - although I thought that was obvious to begin with if you watched the post match interview.

Also, what Pep earns is irrelevant here: Pep not from a wealthy family, his Dad was a bricklayer, and he understands what life is like when you don't get paid a massive salary.

Like I said above, Kevin does more for our fans than probably any bar Sheila Mansour and the team. I don’t agree with every word he’d said but he’s more entitlement to give his view than anyone on here IMHO.

Yeah i agree Tim, met kevin a few times and have a lot of time for him and the work he does (free i do believe?).

I think maybe a statement might have been enough from OSC and signed by him.

As i said the same crap comes up every year after one poorly attended cup game.

Cant do right to do wrong in this case.

Must admit I didn't think there was much in what Pep said but as soon as I seen Kevin Parker kick off I knew Sky and everyone else would be lickin their lips. Why give these fuckin parasites anything.

Disagree pal. Peps been called out and doesn’t like it. He’s done this before. Kevin Parker responded for the majority of City fans in my opinion. Think some people are too wrapped up with the don’t upset Pep worry, look what’s he’s done for us. We appreciate it, we really do,He’s been paid a handsome figure too. The fact is, his words have not been taking out of context. We know Pep well by now and we know exactly what his point was. He needs to accept responsibility for his comments. Think he comes across badly again today. He looked like someone trying to dig out of a hole, only it got bigger. More respect for him, if he just held his hands up. But hey, everyone’s got an opinion, this is mine. All the best blue.:)

Thankfully I watched the match from home, as this enabled me to have a couch available to hide behind, every time Leipzig ran through our midfield and defence.

What is the actual process in regards to unsold/unused tickets. Example If the club knows Leipzig hasn’t taken up their whole allocation can’t they not bunch the Leipzig fans into a smaller section and give the remaining tickets open walk up to city fans? Is that a possibility? As I moved countries and no longer live in UK I would as a non season card holder try to go a champions league because di know likely hood of getting a walk up ticket is higher…. Would like some clarification blues.

ps: watching the game on TV here in Germany when they panned to the Leipzig tier and that being empty probably made things look more worse…

I think its his 'view' that's made a mountain out of a molehill.

He didn't need to speak to the media over it, and now we have Pep saying he will leave if we don't want him.
