Why Moyes & Everton have us over a barrel...

I think they need him. And they also know the impact he would have at City.
Double whammy if they let him go. I wouldn't if the situations were reversed.

Interesting in the papers today saying Everton are being linked with a £15 million midfield player. No way they have that sort of money unless they sell Lescott to us. Maybe Moyes still sussing out what he could get for his money if he does have to sell.

Lets be honest though Lescott has been an idiot the way he has handled this. He pissed both clubs around right royal, I really dont want him at this stage.

I totally agree. He needs to stop being such a wimp. I don't think it's a deliberate piss-take, though. More of a failure of nerve, which is just as worrying.

Some of you seem to be overlooking some key points as to why Lescott hasn't been sold by Moyes .

1 - He is under contract at Everton untill 2012 .

You can go round in circles as to theories and assumptions , but the bottom line is that it's time footballers and clubs respected the contracts that they sign .

2 - Even if Everton had been tempted to sell , or if Lescott had wanted to move , it requires both parties to agree . In this case , it appears that neither party are determined to push through a transfer .

As for the theory of the World Cup , I agree that will be a factor in Lescotts decision , but there are many other factors besides this .

Everton don't want to take steps backwards , and disassembling what is considered by many as one of the finest defensive partnerships in the game would be a big step backwards , and very difficult to regain .

Moyes is gradually putting the final pieces into his jigsaw , and though the bonus of cash injection may be tempting by selling one piece to gain others , it might just be that Moyes can get where he wants without needing to sell , hence his confidence in rejecting City's advances .

Everton will have 3 top class players returning to the team this season in Yakubu ( one of the top strikers in the league ) , Arteta ( one of the best midfielders in the league ) and eventually Jagielka ( one of the best defenders in the league last season ) . This is my opinion of course , but I think it's a reasonable one .

If those 3 players were signings , then they would be very strong signings indeed .

Add them to a side that is the 5th best team in the Premiership not on opinion , but on a proven track record , and that makes them truly a force to be reckoned with .

Add to that one or 2 transfers of good quality , which I still believe will happen in this window , and Everton will be looking very good indeed .

With a decision on the new ground about to happen , and with it , a strong possibility of investment to follow , there are some very good reasons why Lescott would want to stay , and why Moyes would make sure he does .

Not to be harsh, but you are experiencing an acid flashback.

Does anyone know about Lescott's loyalty bonus with Everton?

If he puts a transfer request in he weill loose his loyalty bonus. Okay if he signs for City it doen't matter. BUT, if he puts one in and it's rejected by Everton theres his loyalty bonus gone! Plus he's still at Everton...

This Lescott transfer business comes down to one thing ....... that the player actually WANTS to join us ...... if he really did he'd have have handed in his transfer request by now , or at least made his feelings known to his manager ..... there's no positive news so far , but it's not looking good .

yakubu is a mid table forward these days at best that was before the serious injury problems. Saha is constantly injured.

There is no depth at all in that Everton squad they get a few more injuries and they are screwed.
