Do you think Jose will bring more youth through?

I think it is difficult these days with the pressure of managing a top club to be able to gamble on the younger players, it's a results game and I'm not sure that many of the really top current managers such as Jose M and Pep Guardiola can show they have done this. They can bring the odd one through no doubt but all, including Mancini, are never going to suddenly stick 4/5 into the first team...it's too much of a gamble for them.
Having said that, I don't think Mancini has really brought anybody through as yet, has he (?) and he's been here 3 years.
managers these days are under huge pressure to deliver and are judged on today's results, not tomorrows. I can totally understand any manager under these pressures simply picking the players who can do the job. In fact I can understand what I would imagine mancini's retort would be if offered criticism on this: 'you make me the players and I will play them'.

Interestingly the club has invested hugely in the academy and has made the head of it a big job, currently the responsibility of Marwood, reporting to the barca duo. So now someone is more accountable long term for the delivery if players to the first team, and it isn't the manager.

Mate, you are rapidly becoming my favourite poster, running rings around the anti Bobby brigade. Respect. Some on here have short memories and are only happy when they perceive there's something to complain about.
I've noticed you a couple of times in this thread now. You've added nothing at all to what has in the main been decent football conversation. The only thing that resembled a football post was when you claimed that Mancini wasn't sacked at Inter because of his champions league record. Then an inter fan came on and confirmed you wrong and we didn't see you for dust. I've also noticed you because you made the hilarious post in the Cellar that ' I only started the thread to show Dave and Billy up and now look at how long it is'.

I'm going to be as polite as I can to you. You're way out of your depth. Youre like a little kid in a car full of men going to the game. You're the ball boy amongst a team of premier league footballers, trying with all your might to kick it back. You're the bespectacled lad at the back of the police line at Millwall shouting 'I'll have you all you Millwall *****'.

I'm hazarding a guess you are very young. If not then you are intellectually feeble. It doesn't really matter because the effect is the same: you're like some annoying little mouse squeak in the background of a piano concerto.

Leave the big boys to talk proper football, son, rather than attempting to derail a proper conversation with your popgun.

Can I suggest you re- read the thread 'dad'. Your obviously confused ( an age thing?) if you think I posted anything about Bobby's departure from Inter..Suggest you check my post downstairs and use the correct quote as well. As it happens Dave, I've had a season ticket for 30 years or so and can hardly , sadly, be called young. Your posting style is generally troll like and occasionally verges on bullying and you also are famous on here for having a selective memory. There are a few on here that I'd be apprehensive of entering a battle of wits with....
You're not even close to being on that list. Can't help feeling it's a great shame that you treat fellow Blues with such contempt. Out of my depth ? That makes you going down for the third time...............

PS: You're funny in an eccentric embarrassing uncle kind of way :)
I didn't say you were young, I said you were either young or intellectually feeble.

Now I know.

If that's your best response , I was right not to worry about a battle of wits. Good night Unc......
PS:
Notice you've not addressed the challenges in my previous post ? As I said , selective memory......Still love you though man !

Yeah, I can really see our business savvy owners giving out 5 year thank you contracts.

Well we'll see won't we clever cloggs.

Yes we will. Just like we saw two years ago when people were making out his sacking was inevitable. And just like we saw last March/April when people were making out his sacking was inevitable.

Maybe this time it will happen, who knows. Personally don't think the people are in charge are so fickle that they would give out a contract in August and have changed their mind four months later.

Well you refused to admit it when you were wrong before. Can I assume if he's gone by January, you will similarly refuse to admit you were wrong?

Or can I look forward to a "I am sorry, I got it wrong"? I doubt it somehow.

I can't read that but I can say with some certainty that there would be no chance whatsoever that anyone at city would say to Mancini that his tenure rests on three results. What I would say, and I've been saying for a while now is that a couple of bad results in the next few weeks and he is likely to be bang under pressure. There's no margin for error left in this season at all. If we fall 9 or 10 points of the pace I think he's finished. He might stumble through the rest of the season but I think the die will have been cast and his successor lined up.

What happens if we stumble now? Quite likely. happens to most title winners each season

Shown last season we can come back and string 7-8 wins together and I am sure we will at some stage in the season

The Star pppffftt. What a load of utter bollocks, Mancini will be there until at least end of the season

Good results will speak for themselves and all that matters.

Starting with one on Saturday.

Despite not having Milner, Kompany and obviously Barry now ( irrespective of what he said I predict we will not appeal ) we should still be too good for Newcastle.

I think that article is rubbish don't get me wrong, but lets just say the worst happens at weekend and we lose again and United win again.

9 points is a huge gap, do you really think United at going to capitulate and lose 3-4 games for us to go back in front, without us losing any points as well?

Newcastle is simply must not lose game.

I still would give him one more season in the Champions League.

The thing with City is that if we win nothing it will be deemed a big failure.

We are out in the first round if the Capital One Cup, Chelsea are clear favourites for the League Cup now Arsenal are out, United could win the league if we don't start performing for 90mins, we are out of the Champions League at the Group stages and that leaves the FA Cup, which is pot luck really - it's a very strange competition with strange results.

I don't think an FA Cup will save Mancini's job, a league title will.

I hope he is given another European Cup venture if he wins us the title, next year will be the year to find out if Mancini is really cut out for us to take us to Euro glory.

This is England, not Italy.

Different style, different game.

He's not up to English football, tries his Italian approach over here and goes down quicker than a led balloon.

can't improve us through management, he will by requesting more cash every window. He would be fucked in England without financial backing.

Yeah, every other manager at top clubs doesn't bother to buy players. This is an edit, but I actually cannot believe that anybody at all doesn't think that a modern day squad needs constant investment. Even Barca spend ten of millions a transfer window. Are they just a chequebook club unable to manage?

And he's not up to English football in the way that he's currently the manager of the reigning English Premier League Champions?

And Italy's a completely different style because recent imports from that country like Santon, Chico, Maicon, Borini and that crap Nastastic fella have all been flops.

Honestly, it's like you are waiting for someone to point these things out.
