Why The Hell Would Anyone Want Mancini Sacked ?

5 Champ League campaigns, 1 QTR Final with Inter.

Just a thought....

Maybe if Marwood hadn't been fuck!ng about with the transfers last summer we'd have performed better. The CL is demanding most at the start of the season so we need depth to our squad which is lacking at the moment.

The only line between the inners and the outers is that Bob should get 1 more season.. no more no less.

Might not be the only difference but it is a key difference and more importantly a key question: should he get another year? The answer to that in part depends on how you view the risks involved. It's not, IMO, an easy decision, which is why I'm something like 5.5.on a 10 scale of how convinced I am he should go. However, the easy option is to let him stay and see how he does. We will get much greater clarity about Mancini if he gets another season and some of his transfer targets in the summer.
The easy option, because it's the only option given the risks of one bad season in a crucial FFP era.

Well, I happen to think FFP can be successfully challenged in court because it is anti-competitive and I would like to see City take the risk of spending what they want... but that is another debate.

I fundamentally disagree that keeping Mancini in place is the only option because I think that there is a big risk that we will end up discussing the same sorts of discussions we have had this season next year.

We should go into next season with a squad that would have to be managed badly to fail to retain a top four spot so the downside risk of us appointing a manager who cannot achieve that is relatively low. Getting a manager who can top what Mancini has done is a greater risk but worth taking for the possible upside given that the downside is limited. All IMO, of course.

Real Madrid weren't that good & Ajax were very very beatable.

Chelsea brushed Napoli aside last season.
True. We should certainly have beaten Ajax, and maybe Napoli.

I agree Real Madrid aren't as good as they were and rely hugely on Ronaldo but they are still ahead of us

They are ahead of us in experience & in the way we played against them at the Bernabau, where they could have scored ten with better finishing, but the rags went there, played a simple solid game & could easily have won. We had Maicon & Nastasic making debuts, Garcia thrown in, etc (would anyone play him in such a game now ?) I think the City team, & tactics, that played v Utd in the cup semi could have knocked Real Madrid out of that competition.

City, & Mancini, underperformed.
You remember a different game to me at the Bernabeu.

I remember a very good City performance undermined by some poor defending in the very last minutes. Real Madrid had a lot of shots on goal - mostly from the edge of the area. Marcelo and Ronaldo were shooting on sight. They always do. And it was only when we gave them extra space to do that, that they hurt us

We'll soon have confirmation that Mancini will (hopefully) get another crack at it.

By common consent we need to be quick out of the blocks to secure our targets and the negotiations are unlikely to be kept totally secret in this day and age.

The youngsters signed recently such as Nasty, Panti and Savic went under the Radar but we'll be fishing in a different pool now.

I really think the debates about his future will be resolved for now within a month maximum.

Nothing to publicly resolve as just like last season, a review and canvassing of other managers does not have to be justified to anybody outside the club.

The only sign we could expect as a confirmation Mancini is going nowhere is him at the helm when that first signing is announced.

Cavani would be a very nice start...

I prefer your other idea about Lewandowski and Bale with money also being spent on a top class central midfielder.

No they didn't. They beat Napoli 5-4 on aggregate - AFTER EXTRA TIME (Both games finishing 3-1 to the home side ). Oh - and while we're at it Cech made TWO breathtaking saves in the return game to keep Chelsea in the tie.

Maybe Cavani will only come if Big Bad Brendan is at the helm!!!!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHBWWWWWWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAA

As I recall Madrid bombed us for half am hour or more but then we got a foothold in the game and exposed them on the break using yaya in his best position at the top of the midfield. We looked like we could nick the game but then made a calamitous decision to go. 3 at the back. Mourinho saw this and they punished us in the space created in the wide areas by this tactical change.

What was significant was that defenders stopped closing down their opponents on the edge of the area.

If the world stopped spinning you'd blame it on mancini for not turning his tin cans the right way round in his cupboard

I feel totally reassured about the failings of this season and the outlook for next season with roberto Mancini's insightful, deep and thoughtful comment;

"It is important that we work 'ard"

I've never heard him make that point in any other interview about anything ever, honestly.
Eez it important for him to be interesting at press conferences though?

Not important but it is a shame that the most interesting and informative interviews from City management come from David Platt.
